Interested to see how they are going to limit the dragons plot-wise since it's featuring something like 40 to 100 dragons.

How they get those "wow dragons" scenes in there and still maintain realism and continuity with the plot.

I'm sure the dragons will conveniently not exist then exist suddenly throughout the show-- similar to capeshit writing and the X-men movies where superheros refuse to use their powers. Or there will be some type of plot device limiting the availability of them.

There's 17 in the series

Each of House Targaryen’s flying beasts have to have their own aesthetic, series co-creator/co-showrunner Ryan Condal tells TVLine, because “otherwise, you won’t be able to differentiate between them. So not only are they bright and colorful the way George [R.R. Martin] described them in the book, he actually gives a lot of detail about what each dragon looks like, the color of their horns and crest, the color of their scales. And then they have different silhouettes.”

if that sound doesn't instantly transport you back to your childhood then you must have been abused as a kid
Retard, I'm commenting on the stupid transformer sound that played every time before a dragon breathed fire. As in "what the hell is with the dragons making transformer sounds before they breathe fire? That always annoyed me." Goddamn. Idiot.

17 named individual dragon characters is a fuckton of dragons. At SDCC during the panel, GRRM stated bluntly "Dragons" when the host asked the Showrunners (GRRM is co-showrunner) to name something about the show. The other showrunner chose the words "Fire and blood".

They've set expectation there will be a lot of dragons doing dragon stuff. The concern about balancing plot around them stands.

Looks like they are going to make us wait till tonight to watch. Was hoping for the typical midnight release.
Also Oss's scene 5 is the best scene in the whole GoT series. I could watch that battle a hundred times.

Screener released at midnight. It's 720p, decent audio and only has the HBO watermark.

Same copy critics got.

I'm willing to see where this goes. The scale I am using is S01E01 GoT. Anything else is unrealistic.

Honestly it was boring and dragged. Admittedly pilot of GOT is just an introduction but it has an amazing cliffhanger ending. This episode is full introduction and setting of the chess pieces without making a move.

There was more sex and tits than we were lead to expect.

Jogger kid with ridiculous wig was lol.

Male impotence is a cliche TV trope

Lacked punch and sizzle.

Also the characters lack the charisma of GoT S01E01. You don't really want to know anymore about them. If I wasn't a franchise fan, I would probably drop Episode 2 from next week's watch list. Normies and casual GoT fans probably aren't going to make a ton of effort to watch the second episode. The characters don't grab you.

There is no sense of wonderment from a character study standpoint. I'd say that's a failure.

Nothing grabbed me about what was shown.

That was the problem I had just looking at the previews. CGI means nothing if it is not supported by a good narrative using actual Stars. You can have new actors but the story has to be compelling and the actors have to have good direction.

Color means nothing if the dialogue and actors are shit. If the actors are drab, nobody will be interested to the degree that drew us in for the original. Having a Star means something. Just look at what Tom Cruise always seems to do. For colors sake I will mention Denzel Washington, Samual L. Jackson, or Morgan Freeman. These people are Stars.

We got a good veteran star to help support the new stars in season 1 of the original with Sean Bean as Edward Stark. This helped to transition the new actors as they settled into their roles. It also helped to start the viewership of the show as people were at least somewhat familiar with the actor and thus curious.

This show is using the name of the original and taking a serious risk given the blow back of a certain season 8. There are no familiar actors that interest me at all. The story must have been really good for the executives to sign off on it. I am curious only in that I want to know what the compelling story is that would bypass all other negatives to wanting to spend money for this show.

They somehow made all the families and the King's court feel very local.

The black guy talks about his sea expertise, but we aren't shown that-- and we as the audience don't really feel a sense he's this big navigator or expert on it. We're offered no proof besides his exposition and talking about it at a table.

No other character corrobates anything about any of these characters backgrounds.

The Hightower family is allegedly a big deal.

Yet, we aren't shown any little scenes to back that up, or hint too much at that. The Hand of the King feels just as local to Kings Landing as the black guy.

They feel like Kings Landing locals in a way that Ned Stark never could nor did. Where were the establishing scenes??

D&D were amazing at writing all the little scenes that help define a character into a screenplay.

The above all contributed to a lack of wonderment.

It most resembled the early episodes of s8 before the battles started, but it's not really comparable to anything in GOT. It was boring and dull, can't say more than that.

Maybe it was similar to a filler episode after a climatic action episode but I don't really remember any/many fillers

And like jayrebb jayrebb said, this episode takes place entirely in KL, which probably contributes to the sense of dull ness

It wasn't comically/tragically bad like Obi-Wan, and I'm prepared to give pilot benefit of the doubt as a setting up the chess pieces episode

Yes and the blonde Clark replacement who isn't as dumpy( haha ) is upset that females are used as breed machines to make male leaders( HBO Short ), you know 200 years before it was a thing thing.
