I didn't mind the movie too badly, until the whole wrapping shit up ending. Oh by the way I stabilized extremis and had the shrapnel removed from my chest. Also, now that I don't need this incredibly powerful miniature arc reactor that runs with a brand new element that I synthesized last movie, I'm just gonna toss it into the ocean. And I thought the suits could draw power from that incredibly powerful miniature arc reactor in his chest, so why the hell would the mark 42 need to be charged separately.

This is not a super hero movie, it's a super-ego movie!

I did not care much for the action, but was pleasantly surprised by how cleverly they used the material to constantly, almost scene after scene, work on the idea of identity. This is thematically interesting but also mechanically amusing plot-wise, with the armors becoming vessels that carry people around or tools of deception (plot, theme and action merging in the final action scene where Tony Stark jumps from a super-ego to the next). I also find it pretty ballsy to turn a comic book villain into a stage(d) villain and to have the main character abandon core elements of his super-hero identity and basically claim that a piece of metal near the heart was important for him to BECOME Ironman, but that he does not need it to BE Ironman. How often do you see a hero that becomes literally iconoclast toward his own myth? Pretty awesome, but I can see how it can be seen as a lack of respect for the material, especially in a context of it being part of the movie-canon and not some comic book one shot.

Who knew Tony was going to start outsourcing production of his suits to China... Mass quantity and built like shit! I'd of preferred to have seen this one on Red Box, and this is coming from someone who enjoyed pretty much all other Marvel Films.

I mean, the acting throughout was pretty good, top notch actors. The story?

Eh, why the changes with The Mandarin? I don't think you have to talk down to audiences anymore, and maybe that's my biggest issue with the changes. The original characters are good enough to stand on their own.

That's what makes them great in the first place.

The first Iron Man felt like they understood that, the next 2? I mean, YOU NEED A GREAT ENEMY TO MAKE A GOOD SUPERHERO MOVIE. Stop mangling all the villains in these movies and maybe you'd improve the quality of the movie.

Aside from that, the hijacking of Iron Patriots armor without him ever really doing shit is pretty disappointing. That and the film didn't really feel like it left a clue to where the next Marvel films will go.

I enjoyed myself enough and it has good qualities. I just think they can do better.

I liked a vast majority of the film, but a few scenes just really bugged me.
My #1 spot of anger is... Super Paltrow. Seriously, what the fuck? Why did she become a make shift superhero and suddenly know how to fight? It was stupid, even if some of the audience cheered when it happened at my theater. Leading up to Super Paltrow, her "death", made it very predictable that she wouldn't be dead.

Why is it that humans that are very warm cause the Iron Man armor to malfunction? It seems like every time they were in contact with a suit, the suit got all funky.

Tony is holding onto 13 people at terminal velocity with less than 200 feet to the ground. Yet magically, he slowly lowers them into the ocean. That's special.

All in all, the movie kept me entertained. The above spoiler scenes were annoying though.

If I was 8 when I watched this movie I would have thought it was awesome. Unfortunately, watching it a little over five times older than that and having read more than a few Iron Man comics in the past I was pretty disappointed by the terrible, inconsistent storyline and general feeling of watching an Avenger 2 filler movie. It was almost as bad as Thor. Almost...

I really enjoyed this, like a few other people have said, I'd rank it better than Iron Man 2 but worse than 1.

The two things I disliked about the movie:

1) Mandarin was completely wasted and ruined for future movies. Why even include him in the movie if you're not going to actually use him? I will say, at least, that Ben Kingsley was great.
2) Too much Tony Stark and not enough Iron Man. Tony Stark is awesome, but I wanted to see more traditional Iron Man stuff. Every time Tony got into an Iron Man suit he got the shit kicked out of him. That's no fun.

Overall it reminded me of The Dark Knight Rises in a lot of ways, but especially in that it seemed like less of a super hero movie and more of a generic action movie that happened to have some occasional, super hero elements.

I don't understand why they get the heroes nearly "spot on" even stepping over believable lines of power yet, they are scared to approach those lines with villains? You look at every super hero movie, Marvel and DC, and it's seems they are so scared to give villains their iconic powers yet the heroes can accomplish and survive anything. I really believe Loki might have been the best attempt at a villain yet.. I would say the Joker but he isn't anything that you have to be afraid of in terms of power. However, if they continue to go down this road, they're going to have their hands full with Thanos, especially if he has the Infinity Gauntlet. There's no way around his power and abilities.

I'm going tomorrow to see IM3. I already know the Mandarin is going to be a disappointment but honestly, I go to see RDJ "be" Tony Stark. It's like Tombstone, I only watch it for Doc Holliday. I'll post a review this weekend but, I think I pretty much get the idea on how I will feel.

I'd argue the villain is more important than the hero for a movie to be successful. If the hero isn't tested to breaking point then what's the point of watching? That's why I'm excited about the next Superman movie and really couldn't muster a single shit about the last one.

I think this is why the Joker is the best villain ever, sure others have issues, but he's fundamentally broken...

I really enjoyed it, and I think that, overall, the movie was a fairly positive addition to the Marvel portfolio. There were a number things I'd like to see done differently, but most of the movie was very well done.

That said, I feel cheated out of getting to see the real Mandarin in action. Making him anyone else would have made it a lot better. As it is, it was just a huge blue balls to the hardcore fans. The only way I could forgive this is if IM4 had the real Mandarin and this was someone how part of his plan, but I have no idea if that could even be plausibly done.

Whoever mentioned Tony throwing away his chest arc reactor, I think he took his personal arc reactor out of his chest before Avengers and just kept it as a magnet. You notice in Avengers that he wears it under his shirt the whole time and there's never any way the new chest piece plugs into the suits which tells me that he just put the reactor in the suit and left the magnet in his chest. When he throws it away you also notice that it is not the same as the one he made in IM2.

I like Paltrow in the suit, wasn't crazy about her with Extremis super powers. Dialogue with that kid was A+

Post-credits was good on its own, but I really wanted a real teaser. Doesn't have to be Thanos, but come on, give us something.

About the villains in super hero movies: the problem comes from the differences between the two media. In comic form, each super hero has hundreds of stories, which forces to reuse villains, which means they must be very powerful to survive the clash with the hero and come back later with a new plan that will, once again, be thwarted. In movie form, you will never be able to tell more than a handful of stories before you need to reboot the franchise (because films take long to make, so both your actors and your audience age, meaning you need new starting points for new spectators every now and then). With dozens of villains to cram into five stories, it's tough to make any of them recurring. Most will have to be introduced and dealt with within a single story, as a result, you can't go too crazy with their power level. Note that Loki was mentioned as an example of a well done villain, but he is one of the rare recurring villain.

Magneto was a great villain, but that's basically a separate universe the way they're doing/licensing these movies.

I enjoyed it. I would rank it second best of the three. I've never read a comic book, so I couldn't care less if the story was changed, but I have enjoyed almost all the recent comic book movies. Still, after seeing Avengers, one might ask where was SHIELD while all this was going down, or any of the other super dudes.

Terrible , felt like a Bush Era movie and was trash for a comic book movie that was suppose to be the launching pad for Avengers 2 with zero indication of it having a relevance to it. Hated it , and hated the plot as well. You would think with how well Avengers was received they would continue with Heroes being bad asses and fighting other Villains that are bad asses as well that it would continue that way. Nope.....well Thor looks promising with Malekith being the villain , unless of course its just another Wizard of Oz.

Amazing movie. I would rank it as good as IM1, but not as good as Avengers. I loved the changes they made with the story and heroes/villains. It has been a long time since I was completely blindsided by a plot twist. There were a few wonky bits of the movie, but I was completely able to suspend disbelief.
