Re watched this. Gets better. I really appreciate this movie. Just pure bad ass.

Don't kick a sleeping lion type flick.

Well this movie brought in 43+ million domestically but only had a 20 million budget. That should be good enough for a sequal. I did not find any numbers for the foreign but usually Keenu Reaves does better with that market. The number that blew me away was how much The Equalizer made domesticaly. It brought in 101+ million with a 55 Million budget. Add in the 90 foreign and it to is pretty much a shoe in for a sequal.

Given how great the first two movies were, I am all for both of them having sequals.

Just watched it. Excellent movie. I really like what Keanu is doing with his career lately. Best action movie I have seen in a while. Though I have, unforgivably, never seen The Raid.

Fix this. You won't be disappointed.
I was disappointed in the Raid after reading this thread(and loving John Wick)

Typical Hong Kong-style* over the top fighting(but at least there wasn't much(if any) wire-work, so I'll give them that). I enjoyed the more realistic action of John Wick much, much more.

The Raid(only watched the first one) felt more like something that Jackie Chan would be a part of, which is fine if that is the type of action movie that you enjoy, but I don't. I just about fell asleep during the end of the movie when it was the two brothers vs the 1 bad guy. The whole fight was just ridiculous.

*yes I realize it's not a Hong-Kong movie, it's Indoensian, but it's filmed in that style

I didn't enjoy the long fights as much, but those corridor fights were good.

I don't even...
He's right. The only thing i didn't like about Raid were the endless fight scenes, the final one mostly.
They were like cartoon characters, punching, kicking, cutting each other and shit and it lasted forever.
Action in the rooms, corridors? Really good.
Endless fighting? Boring as fuck.

Not sure how people are comparing Wick to the Equalizer. The former was better by pretty much every single metric I can think of. The equalizer was clich?d, unoriginal, and had zero tension because Denzel was in basically God mode the entire film.

Best part of the Equalizer was Chloe Moretz dressed up like a hooker. John Wick was much better.

I loved how john wick had the grappling throughout the movie unlike raid which was was just way too over the top. wick should have really got more fucked up getting thrown off the second story but shit like that happens a lot where you manage not to get destroyed unlike myself who severed my spine falling 6-8 feet

The Raid was almost like some crazy anime/dragonball over the top action. I did like a few of the hallway scenes, as some mentioned above, but the "big" fight scenes just became too farcical after a few minutes.

Oh I just remembered the one thing that really bugged me about the movie. Why the hell would that Perkins chick show up to the meeting with Winston when she had to know she was in deep deep shit with the management of the Continental? Seemed pretty dumb and out of character for someone who has had a career of several years as an assassin.

Charon (Lance Reddick) called her. He apologizes for calling so late, she says nothing, and we don't hear whatever else he said to convince her to show up for her execution. I'm going to guess that the writers had no idea how to come up with plausible explanation for that either.

I'd say the one thing that bugged me about the Continental was the inconsistent value of the gold coins. Killing someone = cleaning up a body = cover charge to a bar?

took as wick didnt fucking care. assumed he would die so was just tipping out the ass to buddies. As for perkins, it just didnt feel necessary to get that in detail. thats an easy scene to write, you could have anyone betray her because she broke the biggest rule ect
