Dude, I'm sure he's is going through psychological issues I couldn't even fathom. I'd be scared shitless. I woulda definitely applied for asylum in Sweden.Zimmerman seems like kind of a dick now. Guy carrying a paper bag?Call the cops. Can't reach his sister?Call the cops.Pothole?Call the cops.Guy on speed bike?Call the cops.Guy cutting people off?Call the cops.Trash on the road?Call the cops.
Take it easy, Zimmy, you're not here to save the world.
lol, never thought about it this way. Maybe this guy was just a normal dude who wanted what was best for his community but that list makes him look like he peers out of his blinds with his phone in his hand. IT was over several years though so he only called the police a few times a year.Dude, I'm sure he's is going through psychological issues I couldn't even fathom. I'd be scared shitless. If you ask authority this is literally what they tell you to do.Zimmerman seems like kind of a dick now. I agree with you, but I would add one thing: That we shouldn't take the fact that this case was irresponsibly sensationalized to mean race issues don't exist or shouldn't be discussed. Even if the case had nothing to do with race at all, the fact that it is sparking discussion about enduring racial inequality could be seen as the silver lining in the mushroom cloud this case turned out to be.Regarding people coming late to this thread:
I wonder if most people were like me and before and during this trial they dismissed it as just another stupid media trial, another episode of our nations asinine voyerism, more fodder for Nancy Grace and her ilk. So, like the rest it, the reality TV world we are so disgusted by, many of us totally tuned it out.
But something weird happened... Many people took this trial very personally, as evidenced by this thread. Black people took Trayvonn for a symbol of the racial stereotyping they endure and white people took Zimmerman as a symbol for how victimized they are as well.
The trial itself is stupid. Neither of the people involved are qualified for what people want them to be. People's reaction to the trial... Now that's interesting. It's amusing to see people behave exactly like what they claim to hate. Senasationalizing issues of race... It's a pastime all Americans can enjoy!
Only reason I care about this trial now is the number of people acting on their misinformation and how poorly the media is handling it. I can't think of an instance where the facts brought out by the case are so ignored in a big story. Almost no one I've talked to that is neutral or even remotely pro-Trayvon knows that he doubled back and attacked GZ.But something weird happened... We can certainly talk about race if needed, but it gets upsetting when people who cry out racists then lump all black people together as targets of non-racial issues, or that they all have the same views, culture, and language. Lumping all black people into one easy-to-categorize group certainly isn't going to help race relations. I've known black people who I respect more than I respect myself for what they've had to endure andovercometo honestly, be better people than I am.It's the "thugs" I have issue with, and it has nothing to do with skin color.I agree with you, but I would add one thing: That we shouldn't take the fact that this case was irresponsibly sensationalized to mean race issues don't exist or shouldn't be discussed. This. Lleauaric might be right about why some people are interested in the story, but to me its just a case about horrible media misinformation.Only reason I care about this trial now is the number of people acting on their misinformation and how poorly the media is handling it. So you think a case that had nothing to do with race and being turned into a race-based story by horrible media disinformation is sparking useful discussion? No. Certainly not on the national level.Even if the case had nothing to do with race at all, the fact that it is sparking discussion about enduring racial inequality could be seen as the silver lining in the mushroom cloud this case turned out to be.
