Las Vegas

Have any of you used Hotwire to book a room in Las Vegas? I've thought about it to get a good deal on a 4 or 5 star hotel. I'm pretty sure that I could snag the Venetian or Wynn by selecting 4-5 star on north end of the strip, but I dont want to get stuck at Trump tower or something else.

Last time I used a site like that, I picked the stars and a certain area but they gave me the wrong area and were trying to force me to pay for it anyway when they screwed up. So I don't use priceline or sites like that anymore.

Is that some sort of hotel roulette where the good ones aren't even on the table? Fuck that.

You pick an area and the class of hotel you want 1-5 star and they will set you up with a hotel for those nights at about half the cost. The rub is that you dont know which one you will get. You can narrow it down to a few hotels in a given area.

I've seen some pretty shitty '5 star' hotels, though.

For Vegas I would just check each hotel's site. They usually have some kind of deal whether it's free food or shows with the room price.

There are ways to match amenities to the hotel to narrow what you will get. For example if it shows a casino it's not trump, no casino and 5 star in the north then odds are its trump. There are some web sites dedicated to this.

KKK just happened to be in Vegas yesterday at Treasure Island. There was about 5 of them yelling at mexicans to get out of our country, weird shit.

Outside of suites and upgrades at any place, Mandarin Hotel, THEHotel (Mandalay Bay), Cosmopolitan and Aria (two of the newest) are the best rooms on the strip. Mandarin and Cosmo are pretty centrally located next to Bellagio, Cosmo also has some of the hottest looking chicks hanging out all the time and some really amazing food places - Momofuko and Milk Bar are opening later this year, the pork buns in NYC Momo are to die for.

as long as its not a crazy convention weekend too the $20 trick usually works, just slip in a $20 bill (or $40 if you are staying like a week) when you check in and usually you will get upgraded, if there is no upgrade they'll just quietly slide your $20 back and you can die of shame in front of the line

Next to Planet Hollywood is the Hilton timeshare place, some people get lucky buying up timeshare slots on the cheap from people who can't make a trip at the last minute

in 2017 or 2018 Resort World is going to open, a massive new place opposite Wynn built by chinese money I think. Tons of themed places and stuff in there, and a few more places are scheduled after that. Also the Arena opens up next month next to New York New York, will have concerts and sports there and they are doing something behind MGM thats like a Rock concert park or something.

Opposite the Wynn on the strip? Is it behind the space station shopping mall thing? I thought that was directly across.

On the north side of Fashion Show Mall on the strip is where it's being built. It's on Resorts World Drive right next to Desert Inn Road.

Las Vegas has attractive interesting points. I have been visited there at once ion my life but till yet I want to go Las-Vegas again in my travelling life. It is really nice city for enjoying holidays. I would like to suggest you smut go Las-Vegas for summer vacations.

Probably going to be in Vegas at the end of August for a professional convention.

Looking forward to the cab rides across the street to avoid getting out of the shade. Walked the whole strip (during the day) during Black Hat / DEFCON a few (Just realized it was 10 years ago, FUCK) years ago and I think I nearly evaporated.

End of August probably won't be THAT bad unless you're not running around in shorts and a tasteful Hawaiian shirt. It tends to spike mid July/early August. Just drink more water with your free booze.
