At the start of S3 even the highest ranked player of the prior season was dropped to Plat 1, zero LP. It's possible something similar will occur.

I don't care what I end up AFTER the ladder reset, I`m just confused on whether they are resetting it at all or allowing players to play on while Riot gets its shit together. That's the impression I`m getting.

You're very predictable though! You had assumed the website was setup similar to lolking's LKS and yet even after being proven wrong you attempt to assault my knowledge by fabricating nonsensical insults.
Rather than being cynical I've used logic and observation to come to my conclusions. It doesn't take much brain power to make a logical conclusion. Here, I'll even spell it out for you.
- Groups need a rating to justify their position on the featured games page.
- There is already a rating system setup that can be utilized.
- The number values being provided as Group Ratings fit closely with how the Elo system measures players.
With the data provided we have 2 choices:
- Riot created a brand new ranking formula for groups.
- Riot utilizes the current MMR/Elo ranking system to formulate group rankings.
Continue being the skeptic. Witnessing stupidity does amuse me.

Don't need to go through algorithms. I've studied the final numbers for many ranked games. I've estimated my MMR based on these observations and I have concluded it to not be smoke and mirrors. Keep up the good fight, though!

They are doing a soft reset when Season 4 starts. Preseason 4 is not season 4. This is all in their news post splashed all across everything, and reddit, and here, etc. Everyone will start at 1200 ELO + their current ELO (that is, the current ELO when preseason 4 goes into real season 4) divided by 2.
Edit: You effectively move to the halfway point between where you are and the baseline of 1200 if my brain is interpreting that correctly

My pastor said that while the mystery of the tides is the will of God there is some meta data that is sent with each passing of the moon. I haven't looked into it but apparently some Koreans have data mined it, and when combined with their secret calculations, herbs, and spices, approximates the motion of the ocean. I don't personally know how they do a single part of it but I trust it with all my heart. Because Jesus.

Well, according to his website, I'm estimated to be around 1880.Which is pretty close to the Season 2 ratings(I'm currently Plat 5).
How much logic do you think they apply besides seeing what League/Tier you're in, and how much LP you have?

They mine up the number that is used to determine whether or not a game is featured and the reasoning is that the number is the team's MMR. By taking that number over a series of games they can math out your personal MMR.

When such information has been obtainable in the past Riot has closed those doors. If they want a number to be hidden than it's hidden. That's my first objection. My second is that without knowing exactly what this number is and what the calculations are than all I'm doing is entering a name into a box and being given a number. That's not enough for me. My last objection is anecdotal. When I entered in my own handle it said I was 1717. That fits if the bottom of plat is still 1700 but from the absolute start of this season I've always believed that they mucked around with the numbers to make the threshold needed for gold and platinum lower. I think that S3 platinum is really more like S2 mid to upper gold. I struggled to eek into gold in season 1 and season 2 but in season 3 I was gold 2 after my placement games and onto my first promotional series for plat in a handful of games. It seemed like everyone I knew from everywhere was making big gains with the new season. So big I don't believe them to be real gains.
You know what, eat a dick Draegan. I was perfectly willing to let Fawe have the last word and drop this stupid shit but you had to keep poking. I hope the next time you use a public restroom you don't notice someone else shat on the seat before you plant your ass on the bowl.

As someone who's seen his MMR rating this season I can say that a lot of assumptions people are making in this discussion are wrong. At the end of the day if there is information Riot is releasing that allows people to easily compute your real MMR Riot will make that information private. I suspect a lot of it has to do with preventing people from reverse engineering the MMR algorithm that they use, since that algorithm has a lot of value and the space is becoming more competitive. Also it has the side benefit of reducing player toxicity.
