Good luck. He's too weak in early lane to have much of a chance vs most of the supports these days. God help you if you run in to Annie.

Zilean has decent buttons but his stats are just too low. He's got less armor and less health than almost everyone. I think he literally has the lowest base armor in the game. If you compare him to someone like Taric than you see that Zilean is down 80+ health, almost ten armor, some health regen, and has poorer stat growth.

edit -

"Gold income in the preseason is generally high, which can lead to snowballing situations. In addition to clarifying assist gold, we also wanted to remove some of the "untrackable" gold in the mid to late game."

Assist gold rewards no longer scale up with game time (now 50% of kill reward from 50-80% of kill reward depending on game time)
It's a small change that effects everyone but consider this the first back paddle on "we want supports to have more gold."

In his patch rundown, Saint's take was the scaling removal was to prevent overly decisive teamfights in the mid-game.

Yeah, I don't like the back paddling on Gold Income for supports. I play Diana/Leona the majority of the time and I fucking love Support Leona. Actually being able to get items on a support has made the role way more involved and interesting. Vision changes are awesome too. The S4 changes brought a much needed shift in the meta.

The Faker video is really cool. That kind of skill takes a long time to acquire. I don't like to complain about Riven, but there is a real problem with her extremely high mobility at no cost. At max CDR her abilities have insanely low cooldowns. She may be really fun to play, but giving a resourceless champion 4 mobility abilities and a stun is a bit much. Although at Gold, I suppose you wont see too many ridiculous Riven plays.

This patch is going to be interesting. I am excited to see the flood of Yasuo feeders. His kit looks pretty complicated to pull off correctly, and it is highly conditional.

The scaling assist gold by game length change is small and it affects everyone but I do really think it's important to mark the first step backwards. When they nerf the gold generation on each support item, specifically the very important first upgrade, I'll be getting ma pitchfork.

Well, they've got an interesting choice on their hands. Clearly they aren't happy with the way bottom lane is right now, but what do they do? Enforce the meta and nerf every mage people try and bring down there? Undo all the nerfs they gave supports? Nerf the gold gain?

I personally think it's going to be goddamned hilarious if they nerf all the gold gain and we're right back to S3.

Well, the pool of mages you can bring down to bot lane is limited anyway. They absolutely have to have a stun otherwise they are completely useless and a liability. I am so tired of seeing SuppAnnie in Gold with players saying, "Oh, number one banned champ in pro league. She's totally OP scrub!" Then proceed to feed bot because they aren't aware that you have to capitalize immediately when Annie lands a stun. Otherwise you will get killed by the enemy bot lane duo.

I only use SupAnnie when I am duoing with someone I know well and we're on skype. That is the only time it becomes really effective.

There are a dozen mages you can take bot lane and do good things with in addition to the magey supports.

edit - new Flash icon sucks, making an aesthetic change to something I've played with for three years is criminal

She'a still played as a support too. Was even used as support in some of the NACL or ESL matches last week (I forget which). The thing with supports is, the difference between pro game support gold and every other game support gold is still night and day somehow. I see supports in my games usually end like 1 item behind other people, but in competitive they still are lucky to get 1 full item past their gold income one. I can't even see how they stay that poor, there's so many cheap-ass support-oriented items now.

IF they nerf gold income items more, it'll be tier 2/3. Tier 1 barely count as generating gold as it is. If you don't upgrade to tier 2 on your first b you're just hurting yourself in the long run.

Edit: I actually kind of hope they nerf the active on talisman or seriously buff the actives on the other two. It's insanely hard to justify the others just based on the active right now.

Managed to get a game in as Yasuo. Ranked game and was the 3rd in my promotion back to Gold IV lol. I like him but damn he takes some getting use to. His movements/animations are not very fluid at all. He's similar to Riven for me, which means I'll probably eternally suck with him. Somehow I won my first game with him, my team all won their lanes, I actually won my lane (mid) vs Fizz, too, but I also died the most on the team. I went 8-8-6.

His escape is limited, his dash is really the only method and it's certainly not guaranteed at all. Yasuo is tagged as an assassin so it does make sense that he is an "all-in" champion.

His passive shield is kinda OP. The shield single-handily won me the lane. Fizz would poke me but the DoT damage never even broke through the shield.

I had a shit time using his W correctly, in fact, I don't think I ever blocked a single projectile with it. I was against a team with limited projectiles to begin with though. I was really trying hard to block a fizz ult but never succeeded in pulling it off.

His auto attacks are nice and fluid though, his animation does not match his actual attacks, which is fine. My main focus this time around was chaining his whirlwind into Ult... succeeded more than I expected actually. I failed hardcore with his build I think. I couldn't decide on Damage or Tanky.

I started with a Hydra which was okay but I don't think he has much animation cancelling and he already has AoE in his kit so I'm thinking that's the wrong buy. Probably start BT instead. My 2nd item was Stattik Shiv which makes no sense since I already had Hydra. I wanted crit+movespeed to take advantage of his passive. I think Shiv is probably still good but it might be better to go LW 2nd. I was going to do LW except the enemy team had no tanks so I didn't really need to worry about armor pen. After those items I was building toward Randuins and IE.

Next time through Im probably going BT-->LW-->IE-->Zephyr/Randuin/GA/Banshee.

I don't think he needs attack speed at all, might be wise to focus on some CDR though, so perhaps a brutalizer + cdr boots could be good.

Let me know what you guys are running him with.

I'm going to be playing him tonight. Here are my thoughts on his build that I will be trying.

You need about 46% (I think) Attack speed to back the cooldown reduction on your Q (at level 18). So I'm thinking:

Statkik Shiv, Triforce are key I think. The movement speed and spellblade proc on the TF are probably awesome on him.

Then brutalizer into BC most likely.

Then you can do some tanky stuff like Omens or Sunfire (meh). IE I think is a trap for an early item. It's more of a late game item I think (3rd or 4th item). Maybe you can toss in a PD or Zephyr too.

edit: I only say sunfire because it might be worth it if you tend to zip all over the place and use your ult a lot.

His passive opens up some interesting early game mechanics if you want to go crit in runes or start brawlers gloves.

You're right, I didn't even notice that his Q is unaffected by CDR and is lowered with atk speed. So CDR is not that great with him.

I don't see why you would think IE is a trap, actually I think going Vamp-->IE-->LW is probably really good. IE offers way too much for him. It's 50% crit chance just from IE plus the extra AD and Crit damage, which his Q procs. I also see Youmuu's Ghostblade being really awesome too.

Next game I think my build order will look something like this:
Brutalizer-->Vamp-->BF-->Ghostblade-->IE
or
Brutalizer -->Vamp-->Zeal-->BF-->IE-->Ghostblade-->Shiv

I meant IE is a early game trap, as in don't rush it, but get it as a 3rd or 4th item.

I think Shiv is almost key for him. His movement loading Flow is a perfect match for the first item. Ghostblade is good too, it may be worth it. I'll have to see. I like triforce too much on him though.

Anyone try him in the jungle yet? It seems like his passive would be pretty good at keeping his hp up and on paper his clear speeds are super good. The only thing that would concern me is his first clear and that it might be a little difficult to gank with his ult. You would need to plan in advance to get your Q stacks up.

You can't really gank or roam well with him because by the time you get to a lane the timer on whirlwind has expired. His ganks are shit. I even felt bad playing him mid because his roaming is pretty much ass.
