was it reddit or Facebook sobering said there was a good group for pool maintenance. local shop was kinda against salt pool as killing equipment and not really being any different/ better. But I still think I want to do one.

They are getting me a quote on a 18 and 24ft round above ground resin salt ready, but said the salt reactor or something like that is have to buy separate as their corporate owner only stocks conventional.

Anak chance we can have it by end of month for my nieces that are coming in.

We just signed on a pool/backyard project. We are going 3" to 5" max at the end as a every pool builder we talked to said that 90% of time people do not hang out in the water when it is at or above the shoulders. My wife did all of the design herself.

can you do a 180 on the jaccuzi location? i've been to a few houses and airbnbs and use the the jaccuzi at night least when the jaccuzi is so far away from the house, i think you would have the same issue too, it's just that invariably someone always needs to get something or want something or a refill and that long trek out of the pool is annoying and ppl just end up sitting in the lounge chair after getting out and dried talking to the person still in the jaccuzi

That has been the biggest issue with the pool since we started. It really looks weird and breaks up the yard if the hot tub is offset to either side or in the front of the pool. My wife and I are not huge hot tub people so we are using it more as a focal point/water feature with the understanding we will use it less than if it were closer to the house.

Ordering a 24 resin salt ready above ground in the am with pump etc.

I have to buy a salt generator or whatever? They said look for these brands. Pentair,
haywood, jandee(?)

Any advice for finding a lot of cheap salt, not sure how much I need for 13500 gallons.

Could be installing as early as next weekend

You can buy salt at Home Depot or Lowe's. 13,500 isn't going to take all that many bags to start it up. Just read the directions on the bag to calculate how much. I've worked with all three major brands of equipment over the years, I highly prefer Jandy. Easy to work on/repair and reliable. Pentair would come in second with Heyward being being a distant third. Whatever you do, do not buy a Heyward filter. All pool filters have to be broken down and cleaned at least once or twice a year and Heyward's fucking suck trying to get put back together. Trust me on this one.

Ever hear of special means of getting all the water other than just running a hose? Got a rural fire hydrant nearby, not sure what size hose, or whether if I contact them, theyd sell me a water truck or two's worth of water cheaper than usual metered amount.

I know there are companies that specialize in water delivery for pools. I have no idea if they're cheaper than paying for municipal water. Do the math on ~15,000 gallons out of your hose vs delivery. Just be careful that your water bill might not be linear if you pass some extreme usage thresholds.

Every pool I've ever built was filled with a garden hose. It's not really as bad as people think in regards to a giant water bill or whatever. Have you ever really examined your water bill closely? 13k gallons isn't that big of a deal for anyone that regularly waters their lawn or has an irrigation system. The extremely rare cases where I've heard of having a truck deliver water was because their well water contained too much iron and/or other minerals. It might be different in more arid places like Arizona but here in north Texas it would cost you WAY more to hire a guy with a water truck than to just fill it up with your hose.

Top of water rate here is $8 per 1,000 gallons. So like $120 to fill the pool.

If it's a question of speed, and you want to get it done faster, you could buy a tank at the farm store, then start the hose while at the same time running into town to fill up the tank. They make tanks that fit in the back of trucks, but it would probably be easier (less trips) if you had a trailer to put a tank on.

Some people's wells run dry every so often, so there should be places to fill tanks up at.

No just cost, in Colorado at least the bill would have been pretty bad, I'll have to look our rates

Having trouble finding places to buy jandy, a few list replacement cells, but seems about it at least as far as their 2 salt systems. LESLIES (national chain?) listed as a dealer but they don't even list the systems on their site, going to call and ask.

Amazon's 1 exception but I never trust not getting knock off for anything important.

Half unsure about salt somewhat since it looks like a solid grand + to do the unit. Somehow had the impression more like $600. Say 4 year life, not sure if that breaks even with reduced chlorine purchase or not.

We rented a fire hose from the fire station for like $120 or something, the water from the hydrant was free (I think?). Or maybe the hose was free but there was a meter on it and that’s how they charged, been too long but I remember it was super cheap, when pool companies wanted thousands for “pool ready water”. Just want to make sure the initial blast of water isn’t in the pool, as the first bunch of gallons is dark brown with sediment/rust. Once that initial blast gets out it’s clear. Much faster than garden hose when you’re filling 20k+ gallons.

Jokes on you, there isn't even water in ours yet! They are, however, an industrious people.
Tell them you saw on the internet you fill it with water before pouring the concrete.
