Dredd, The Raid and John Wick is on the same level as this movie in terms of action that came out within the last decade. All badass films.

I put this just a bit higher. For one thing, it's rated higher on Rotten Tomatoes and made more money in theaters. Yeah, that doesn't mean a lot but it does say that a higher proportion of people knew about this and thought it was worth wasting theater money to see. It also won over more snobby critics. I also think it is better than those movies if just by a small margin. This is the pinnacle for the past decade even though those are really close. There will always have to be a #1. This is it right now.
Edit- after watching this, I thought it was the best i'd seen since the Matrix. At no point did I think that with Dredd, Raid, or Wick. I thought they were some of the best action movies I'd watched in a while but not the best since Matrix.

Haven't see The Raid.
I agree Dredd and John Wick were badass films, but I think this one was clearly better overall.

I liked all of those movies. I think my order would be John Wick/The Raid, Mad Max, then Dredd. There was absolutely nothing wrong with Mad Max really, it was just The Raid and John Wick were more hand to hand based and some of that choreography was just amazing. Fucking doorways, man. The Raid was all fight choreography, John Wick was awesome character focus (not exposition, just "This is Spot. Watch Spot kill."), Mad Max was more action in a broader sense. Dredd I don't think is quite on tier with these movies but wasn't bad either. I just honestly don't remember much in Dredd where I went "FUCK YES!!!" like I did the other three.
I wouldn't give it 99%, but I'd definitely give it 90% at least.

lol. In fairness, it was the reviews here that made us decide to see it.
Speaking of which, can I get kind of a roll call for everyone who thinks this was an 9/10 or better? I'll write your names down on a notepad and be sure to disregard your opinions on future movies.
Another thing I liked about the movie was how I had no trouble suspending disbelief on those monster hot rods. So many things I noticed that should have bothered me, but I guess there just wasn't time to think about it. I like that we can consider these stories to be various legends being told years later.
