I never said their tastes suck until I'd been repeatedly told the same thing. I was not the first or fifth person to be uncivil so don't act like I came in calling everyone losers (nor was Hoss that bad before people got an aneurysm about his mild response). Like Sean, passion and rationality don't seem to go together here when a pet love comes along.

But, yes, people shouldn't give their opinions unless they'll agree with everyone else. Great philosophy. Sounds like some anti-GG thinking right there. Maybe some of you guys should start a block list to prevent unfavorable opinions from being viewed.

I've gone against the grain on some movies and shows and rarely get too much shit for it because I post once and and I'm done. It's the infinite defending your position with verbal diarrhea that gets people neg bombed generally.

Exactly. I even posted much the same thing to DickTrickle in the John Wick thread, just in a whole lot more words.

Hoss doesn't even like action movies so I can understand his opinion. Of course, his wife doesn't really like them either. What 'action' movies does she like, Hoss?

I think it's hilarious that DickTrickle is still butt hurt over the John Wick thread. It's made me go back and read it for some good fun. Thanks Dick! Your tears are still delicious even now.

She doesn't like one action film so she clearly dislikes all action films. Great speculation.

It's hilarious that you guys are still butt hurt over someone criticizing it (and let's keep this cycle going and think it's going somewhere useful). I got mentioned in this thread about the JW thread before I said anything in reference to JW, not the other way around. Keep defending your precious film babies.

In any case, for the holy war: Dredd > MM > JW

This movie is the result of a bunch of people in a room saying to each other "you know what would be fucking awesome?" and then going and bringing every single one of those ideas to life. Fuck story, fuck character development, purpose, meaning, depth......just make the movie badass. And so it was done.

I don't understand why I didn't like this movie. I'm a huge action movie guy, John Wick, Dredd, all the action movies of the 90s that I grew up on. I went in totally hyped to see it but I really disliked it. This should have been my white whale, but I hated it. It had some great scenes, and I liked the Nuks (I think that was his name) character the most, but I hated it. I have no idea what it is.

there isnt something "wrong" with you if you didnt like it, its not a perfect movie, very few movies are. what it has that so many of us are nerdgasming over is a feel. it feels like a movie we grew up with as a kid, something like goonies or conan or raiders etc. and because it is mostly a throwback to the ways they made movies back in the 80s with real stuntmen and real effects you can actually picture yourself in the movie.
i dunno how old you are, but if you did not grow up with indy and arnold and rambo and spielberg's golden age its going to be hard for you to understand why this is such a wonderful film. i can just say sorry you missed such a glorious time in an era of cinematic history.

Suspension of disbelief broke for me, I liked every individual element but together it was just too much. Was much better on the second viewing.

Saw it with wife yesterday. The movie was amazing. It was so well done, I didnt feel even one moment of "cheese" except perhaps the guitar player. Maybe. But besides that it was pure insanity. Zero plot explained. Zero exposition. Insane action with flawless effects. I don't know if I *liked* it, like an emotional connection, but the movie was fucking awesome.

Alot of the plot and exposition was done visually.
Like the "our children won't be warlords". This is never said, but gives you the reason for them running.

The cult of Immortan Joe. No one expressively says, "There is a cult around Joe, and him being a godlike father figure aka Wodan." But you have the Steering wheel alter scene. The Chrome plated death pact. Witness to the ride to Valhalla. and so on and so on..

Joe gives a brief exposition on the intent of Furiso's ride. Bullet town, and Gas town kindof are on the nose... We are given exposition on what happened to the green place.

Actually, plenty of plot and exposition if you paid attention.
I have no idea why, but when someone mentions this movie the line I think about is "I had a brother and he was perfect in every way." Small throwaways like that make me appreciate good films even more.

What you discovered in the John Wick thread, is if you go into a movie that most people liked and then proceed to say its mediocre and everyone else's tastes suck, yes, you will get pushback. No shit. I didn't particularly like John Wick either, but I also didn't feel the need to jump into the thread, call it overhyped and mediocre and generally shit on other people's opinions. I didn't like it, most people did, move the fuck on.
How does that apply here? Only once did i say anything like that and it was after the faggots attacked me. Besides, i felt i was very cordial. I didn't say anyone was dumb, just that i wanted to ignore their reviews in the future.

Oh and i forgot the faggots attacked when i said the first trailer didn't look too promising.

Face it, you're wrong about what's going on here.

Well since we're talking John Wick, she went to see that without me. Is that an action movie?

Needed more character development. Like I said, if you didn't care about the characters coming in, the movie gave you no reason to care about them. Its interesting that nuks was your favorite because he was the only one with a character arc. Some might argue he was the main protagonist of the movie.

Alot of the plot and exposition was done visually.

That's a loose definition of plenty. Enough was given to at least give you some context of the world you're seeing and Furiosa's purpose but not much more. I'm not saying more would have been better but let's not pretend it's something it's not.

Dear God, sucking time from the life of sperglords is one of the most satisfying things ever. I didn't see what you animals did to DickTrickle in the John Wick thread, but making him so preoccupied that he felt compelled to come into another thread to bitch about it is art.

Except I was talked about in this thread about that other thread before I responded to that shit here, thus my invitation to respond. So, the preoccupation is elsewhere. Also, it's relevant since it's the same ridiculous nerd rage that Hoss is getting; there's so many Seans here, just a different pet love being criticized. Don't let reality get in the way of your circle jerk.
