Agree with all of this. I think the first one is worth a watch just because of how great what follows is, but it's too 80s...and Australian...for me to really consider it a great movie. The Road Warrior is an absolute classic though and it's been at or near the top of any "best post apocalyptic movies" list since it came out. Thunderdome is just silly, but if you like that genre I would still recommend watching it as it's not like there is a whole ton of high production apocalypse movies out there.Mad Max: The Road Warrior is the one you'll want. Max Max 1 is just sort of strange. It's the story of why Max goes Mad. But it's real, REAL, standard 80's fare (with muscle cars). A biker gang killed his wife and kids and he's PISSED OFF. And Mad Max 3 tried to be 2 different movies. It's also the perfect 80's movie. But of the 4, it's probably the weakest as a movie. It's more of a spectacle and a song.
It's hard to say whether #2 or #4 is the best one. I think they're about equal.
Yeah, it was one of the best examples of "Show, don't tell" in recent mainstream films...which is probably why some people don't like it: "What do you mean 'I have to pay attention'? It's only an action movie" and so on.One thing I really loved was just how much mythology was included in the film with zero exposition. The whole thins is 99% action, but you pull a ton about the world and social structure without any of it being shoved down your throat. That part was extremely well done.
I've been trying to explain this very thing to the dullards I work with, but even if they like the movie it is just because of "yay explosions!"Yeah, it was one of the best examples of "Show, don't tell" in recent mainstream films...
You never learn anything about those empty shitty characters in those terrible books.this is why The Black Company books are my favorites, practically zero description or back story on the characters, but they are more vivid to me than almost any others.
2:14 forward in the Blood Bag track gets me fucking hyped. What made this movie bad ass to me was the music.
Be careful if you listen to this stuff when you drive... You will have the growing desire to ram into things, chrome your teeth and will want to be witnessed.
I don't begrudge anyone their opinion on things like movies and books, because no one likes the same thing, and I'd still enjoy them even if I were the only person that liked them (thankfully I'm not), but I don't think we can be friends anymoreYou never learn anything about those empty shitty characters in those terrible books.
Hmmmm sounds interesting. I wonder what makes Beryl's history so amazing? We wound through mazelike streets half as old as the world, our prisoners shuffling listlessly. I gawked. My comrades are indifferent to the past, but I cannot help being awed-and occasionally intimidated-by how time-deep Beryl's history runs.
Feh, you dont know horror, you lightweight! A friend of mine more or less forced me to read several of Connie Suttles Blood (word of the day) vampire series. Lordy...It's bad, Vvoid. Like fanfiction level bad.
Nice cop outIt was written from the PoV of an annalist. Of course it will be biased and incomplete. I can understand not liking it, but it's intentionally that way.
