The director has stated that he isn't concerned with maintaining a consistent timeline, they are all just self-contained stories.
Proving that with a great story, and self contained consistency, people will ignore small details. (Which is a good thing)...That being said, he writes Max like a greek or folk hero it seems like. So he just shows up all through the scorched earth world; time doesn't really matter, the setting does.

Well if you were telling the story of Mad Max years later as legends, he probably would be part of a lot of grand events he couldn't possibly have been involved with. Which would be a cool perspective, but I don't know if he's taken things there in his mind.

33 years since society collapsed / war. Well the cars in the film were all older cars, late 70's . . . but as a side note I think some of the guns were more modern.

So if it's 33 years, this would mean that they (the film-makers) ditched the idea that Max was an adult before the war. The Mel Gibson Mad Max had turned 'mad' well before the war, but different actor, lets re-set the scenario, re-imagine the character. It works, so I'm not complaining.

I like that this thread is a thousand post bukkake circle after all the initial fence-sitting on whether or not this would be garbage.

I had faith.

Year after year after year after year after year after year of shitty remakes and reboots. How can you blame anyone for being sceptical?

Older cars would be easier to maintain because they are lower tech.

I was thinking about watching this since it was getting pretty good reviews but honestly the over-the-top cocksucking of this movie in this thread is making me think I don't really care to... like 80% of the posts are people trying to find the newest most clever way to say that they'll disown/murder anyone who doesn't ejaculate at the mere thought of this movie.

It only takes the faintest whiff of Imperator Furiosa's axle-grease perfume to make me, much like the school girl of the before times, giddy and gleeful.

The ZombieWizardhawk is a quiet creature. It has no one natural habitat, but is found usually on its own in a quiet place. The ZombieWizardhawk is a solitary creature; the human counterpart to the Lone Wolf. ZombieWizardhawks are subtle and charming, however they usually tend to be single simply because being a ZombieWizardhawk mostly means that one does not have the care for another person or a group of friends. The ZombieWizardhawk is rarely seen with more than 3 people at any time unless at a concert, dance, or other social gathering. ZombieWizardhawks are usually very kind, as what small amounts of contact they have with others means a lot to them. The ZombieWizardhawk doesn't rely on other people to define their existance. Things like school drama pose little more than entertainment to the ZombieWizardhawk. ZombieWizardhawks don't rely on others, and as a result are completely self-sufficient and know how to not look like a friendless loser when confronted with a situation with no friends around. ZombieWizardhawks can be one's lifelong friend, voice of reason, and an all-around great person if someone took the few seconds and tried to be worthy of a ZombieWizardhawk's precious time.

Finally saw this for the first time last weekend. I was most definitely not disappointed. It's got that rare trait where I couldeasilysit down and watch it again a few more times. Great atmosphere, great action set pieces, exemplary adherence to an established theme (consistent vehicular combat from beginning to end), outstanding vehicle design (and I'm not even a car person), great pacing, no excessive or unnecessary scenes, a simple and non-distracting plot that does a great job of keeping the movie moving... It just seems to do everything right.

If I have one complaint, it's that I couldn't tell the difference between any of the bald guys so I was unable to follow their individual stories. I imagine a second viewing would help clear that up.

All the bald guys, except for Nux, are interchangable parts.

I don't think you're really supposed to follow their individual stories. They're just warboys.

And yeah. I could watch it a few more times myself. I want it to remain special to me though, so I decided I might watch it twice a year at most.

I liked this movie but I don't remember if I watched the original mad max movies as a kid, so I really had nothing to feel nostalgic about. I do feel like I should pick those old ones up and give them a whirl though

Mad Max: The Road Warrior is the one you'll want. Max Max 1 is just sort of strange. It's the story of why Max goes Mad. But it's real, REAL, standard 80's fare (with muscle cars). A biker gang killed his wife and kids and he's PISSED OFF. And Mad Max 3 tried to be 2 different movies. It's also the perfect 80's movie. But of the 4, it's probably the weakest as a movie. It's more of a spectacle and a song.

It's hard to say whether #2 or #4 is the best one. I think they're about equal.

Got the bluray and watched it last night. I liked the movie even better the second time around. Can't wait to watch the special features.

I watched The Road Warrior a couple weeks ago and I definitely think Fury Road is a better movie but Road Warrior was pretty good.
