Pete transformed from the smug bastard we all hated to the smug bastard we all love. Personally, I think I came around to liking him just after he got knocked the fuck out by Lane.
It was after Trudy left him. You can't but help feel sympathy for a man who looses such a fine piece of ass.

I feel for Trudy, just because Community was canceled. We'll never see the lovable Annie again, unless Netflix gets to make another season. She's a dumb twat in this series, though.

Think of the scene when Peggy left Sterming Cooper Draper Pryce.

They were both in tears and Don expressed his love for her for the first time.

You guys are correct, its not romantic. Don is very much a father figure to her. She used to look to him for approval and guidance but "grew" out of it. But she still realizes he cares for her and she cares for him.

Like a daughter rebelling against her dad, shes tried so hard to show she doesnt need him or can do it alone, shes finally realizing that while she can do that, its better togetehr.

So Megan is definitely leaving Don. And Harry as a partner balances out the voting for Don, which is something that Cutler may not have accounted for. And I don't see Chaough voting Don out.
I think you are totally right about Cutler. He gets Harry the new computer just so that when Harry becomes partner he can count on the deciding vote to oust Don because of the gratitude Harry should feel. He has no idea that Harry likes Don and that it was Harry who spilled the beans about the Phillip-Morris meetings. Waterloo may stand for both Lou AND Cutler because it is setting up for a meeting where Cutler says that they either keep Don or him, and when the chips are down both Sterling votes for Cutler (because it makes more business sense) and Harry ends the tie by voting for Don.

Harry's the type of person I could see being bought off. He's always struggled for recognition within the company, feels he has to constantly fight for his part of the business, and is aggravated at feeling marginalized. He's also extremely self-interested and a bit of a pushover. Cutler getting him both the computer and the partnership he's been trying to get for years could push Harry to think his best future prospects lay with throwing in with Cutler.

However, this looks like it could cost Cutler Joan's vote. Either Joan will continue to be pissed at him for giving Harry partnership, or she's going to start piecing together that Cutler is just buttering up people solely to get rid of Don. Joan's not the type to go for that type of manipulation, particularly when it means her promotion wasn't for merit but to use her.

True, but Harry also is part of that young crew with Kenny and Pete that sort of idolized Don when they were breaking in at the original agency. I definitely see that playing into it when he let don know whats up.

I love how they bought that giant computer and all that they seem to have done with it is to put it behind a window with a pretty secretary on display tapping away.

What can they even realistically do with that computer? It's probably got less power than a TI 83. I just don't get why an ad agency in 1969 needs a room sized computer.

To be able to say that they have one. It's a showpiece. I think that's part of what makes Harry's previous scene where he lies about the computer to the client important. Those computers couldn't do very much, and what they could do could be just as easily faked by hand.

They were still using punch cards to program that shit. So they're going to have to create an IT department now in order to use it (well, Harry will be the IT department). They'll never get the cost of the machine back out of it in value, much less the extra salary.

But if you want to be a big new york ad firm you have to tell your clients that this ad campaign is verified. BY SCIENCE.

And I think Harry is plenty petty enough to sell Don out. "Say what you want, he's loyal!" made me snicker. That fucker is the opposite of loyal, he is completely mercenary. But he also doesn't like to work all that hard, and climbing that corporate ladder is hard, risky work. Harry is the anti-Don even more than The Geek is.

I think Harry is a bit loyal to Don. He respects Don a ton and has always considered him a friend. Remember the episode when they went to the Rolling Stones concert?

You're talking about the guy who created his own job in the firm, sensed the wind turning toward TV before anyone else at the company, never got half the respect he deserved and yet still works there!

I got the feeling of Don dancing with Peggy as more a father/daughter type vibe than a lovers vibe. Peggy was somewhat freaking out so Don just took her hand and danced with her to calm her down a bit. I would actually be quite annoyed if Don and Peggy became a match since it goes against both their character profiles to be together.
This is what I told my wife. Finally got to watch the episode last night.

This was probably the best episode over the last 3 seasons (including this season).

A relationship between Don and Peggy would last what, all of two episodes before she went into full shrew mode over one of any number of things he typically does in his relationships. His storyline would end up with either him really jumping off the balcony of his apartment or tossing her from it.
