I'm only curious if this forces Europe to sack up, or if it will just result in a louder yell for "America needs to show leadership!" Which is apparently code for we need to bomb people. Except when we do then there will be a yell of "America Imperialism! They're starting another Cold War! Tyrants!"
Shooting down a completely uninvolved passenger airplane is bad. Europe got some decisions to make here. Foisting it onto America is not an option this time. The most surprising thing to me about this story is that the airspace was not being avoided. I don't fault any one or any agency for proceeding with business as usual, it's just surprising that caution did not create a policy of aversion to this airspace.
Just tell us where to drop the bombs. We're not going to shoulder this alone.
