Or maybe the fact that he doesn't just lobotomize every criminal or take over the Earth makes him a complex and iconicsuperhero. Constantly exercising self-control despite having great power and using his natural gifts to help those in need are quintessential American values. Well at least they used to be. America is kind of a dick now.
Not sure what that has to do with Superman being a difficult character to write for. Nothing about Superman is complex at all.

I thought Thomas Jane was great, but that movie is pretty wretched. Have you at least seen Warzone?
It could have been better given the source material, but I really enjoyed it, especially the fight with The Russian

I havent seen warzone yet.

How can you not love the Thomas Jane Punisher? Travolta's, "She took the train" line is fucking classic.

Warzone was probably about as flawed as the Tom Jane Punisher, but in different ways. If you took the best elements of both and mushed them together, you'd never have a better Punisher movie. As it stands, I think Man on Fire is probably the best Punisher movie I've ever seen.

The whole Creasy series by AJ Quinnell is worth reading if you like The Punisher. Man on Fire is a classic.

Not sure what last few pages are about...

I just saw Man of Steel yesterday and was kinda disappointed with the ending there.

So Superman just snaps Zod's neck? How is this even possible if Zod is as strong as Superman? Does this happen in the comics? Can't Zod's body just regenerate back? They never showed where his body was disposed of. I was expecting a scene where Superman throws it into space or toward the sun or something. Am I to believe they bury him on Earth and he possibly returns in the sequel?

I actually googled this "neck-breaking" thing and it seems more of the internet is outraged that Superman actually kills someone rather than it actually being possible to do it. I don't really care if Superman kills him legit or not, but if Superman is able to break Zod's neck it seems that the same could have happened to Superman. He did take quite a beating during the last sequences.

TL;DR: I'm confused how Superman was able to break Zod's neck and where is Zod's body - possibility he returns in sequel?

Yeah I was wondering how Superman was going to beat Zod. I was thinking he would either impale him on some crazy spike on a spaceship or some other thing I didn't predict. Snapping his neck was a bit week but it fit the storyline ok.

When I heard Titus Pullo was playing The Punisher I thought it would be the greatest comic book movie ever.

As for Man of Steel, I liked it, but I'm the worst person to ask. I think in terms of Superman movies there's 2-3-1 and nothing else. This one was good enough, but it lacked tiny little things in each area to push it into the great superhero movies. Wasn't disappointed at all though. They're trying to compete with Marvel (what a turnaround from the past) in the film industry so I get why it's an action film first.

edit: Yeah, 2-3-1. Has to do with how I saw them as a kid. 1 was pretty boring compared to 2 when you're 5-6 years old. And 3 had Richard Pryor, so it's damn close to my favorite.

In the comic book, Superman has been shown to heal like Wolverine. Pretty much the only way to beat a Kryptonian is with Kryptonite, Magic or sending them to the Phantom Zone. Even when Superman died in the comics, he ended up going into a Kryptonian coma, where it looked like he had died (i.e., having no vital signs), but was healing. Also, Darkseid's Omega blast has been shown to hit hard enough to kill Kryptonians, as he one shotted Super Girl at the end of Crisis on Infinite Earths, and has knocked Superman unconscious with one hit.

Well Doomsday was able to basically beat Superman to death. So with enough strength it is technically possible, I guess? It just doesn't happen to Superman because he is the hero. If Zod makes a come back remains to be seen I guess. I hope he does. I loved the character.

This isn't the first time Superman has killed in the movies either. It was just brutal compared to the hand crush + tossing into the pit move he did in Superman 2. Pretty sure all 3 of them died in that scene. I try to block out Superman 4, but I think he killed that sun dude as well? It has been known to happen.

Anti-Monitor kills kara. not Darksied.

Superman willing himself back to life has occurred more then a few times. its kindof a "just him" thing. The only time its outright explained is the kryptonian coma bullshit, from the Death of superman. otherwise, its more of a spiritual thing. Superman has more work to do, so he can't leave yet. This could also be explained by some time-wankery of the future god Superman.
Regardless that is some bullshit. generally speaking, he can heal/regenerate, but only to a certain level. he does not have a come back to life, get out of jail free card.
