People wholovedthis movie aren't very large Superman fans. They think that the character is "vanilla" and a "boy scout". They don't quite comprehend what he represents, I don't think.
Nah I'm a huge superman fan and just wanted a live action movie of him blowing shit up. What he represents isn't very complex, in fact he's one of the most simple heroes in comics.

Just saw this movie with the wife and we both liked it. One thing I thought was cool was when they played the song Seasons by Chris Cornell. A classic tune from the movie Singles. Actually got choked up when that started playing. One question I do have is the ship that was buried in the ice had been there for 1800? years and it had Superman's outfit in it?

I just watched the Avenger's for the first time a few days ago and thought it was good but I think MoS was better. I also didn't care for Iron Man. Haven't seen part 3 yet or the reboot of Spiderman. The Dark Knight still holds the crown for the best though and that was only because of Heath Ledger's performance.

I think that outfit was like default outfit on krypton. When they put zods men into the phantom zone the first time, they are all wearing it and jor-el had it on under his robes/armor.

we have to guess that Zod would have betrayed us, and him. but considering Lois was still alive when Superman was unconscious, we don't really have any reason to believe he was lying, or she would have been killed immediately. Its entirely possible if Clark said ok, ill go with you. They would have taken him and went to another planet to terraform. (granted if they did have a scene that made it clear, Zod was lying, then that would probably be entirely too cliche. but really as it stands, clark is made out to be a giant asshole.)

Your movie has a serious problem if the hero can solve everything, by doing nothing.
They did have that scene, it's when Zod said he was going to use Earth as Krypton v2, killing all humans on the planet, Supes was intrigued about the plan until then. That's how I read the scene and I just watched it less than 12 hours ago.

Yeah, default outfit which cyber Jor-El had made for him in the ship, if the ship can make babies why can't it make an outfit? Granted it was Kara in the ship so who knows.

I really don't understand the loathing for the movie, though admittingly I've never been a huge DC fan. I thought it was a pretty damn good movie and easily within the top 10 comic book moives.

nope. I loved this movie.
Same.

The RLM guys pointed out a few problems, but on the whole all I've ever wanted was a Superman movie that has super battles. Superman has 80 years (yeah holy shit) of showing why he is an icon. The only real weak point is the ending. It was like Batman killing a guy in Batman Returns. It didn't work for the character.

the companion comic gave the backstory for the ship.
It was a scout ship for intergalactic colonization, lead by Kara Zor-el. So, the ship itself was from the House of El, 20,000 years in the past.
Its possible the suit was from then. also, possible why it was red/blue, and not the black the modern Kryptonians were wearing. Its also possible Jor-el had it made on the spot with super science. (which would give why it fit him perfectly more) I lean towards the second explanation.

you know... it does occur to me.

If Kara is 20k years old in this continuity... obviously younger cousin doesn't work.
But there is someone that DOES work at being older, and has a really crazy backstory, that not many would really complain about having it be reworked a bit.

What grates on my nerves about all the negative reaction to this film from so-called "true" Superman fans is how they complain about the interpretation. How it isn't the "real" Superman. Yet Superman has been interpreted all over the fucking place in the comics. His superpowers and willingness to use powers have been all over the place. Yet suddenly a movie interpretation is the "wrong" Superman. You motherfuckers are like book-purist fans for GoT complaining that Ghost never should have barked. Except in this case, your "purist" material has been done by 50 different authors in 50 different ways, with Ghost barking, whining and crying in various versions.

You want a "mature" Superman that doesn't hurt any innocents, has barely any action and fights a villian using Kryptonite?Superman Returnsis still out there. This movie hasn't ruined that one for you.

I don't recall seeing a Superman like this that recklessly engaged in the destruction of a city. People keep showing the Captain Marvel vs. Superman clip as proof of this, but if you watch the whole cartoon, that whole area was clear of people because of LexCorp's new construction.

What, you mean all those buildings that are clearly occupied and have lights on? In the background when Captain Marvel, Lex, and Superman are talking before the fight starts, it's really obvious that some lights are on and some lights are off, as if some people have either already gone to bed or haven't gotten home yet.

If that isn't good enough, how about the Darkseid fight from the series finale, or the Doomsday fight from the stand alone movie? Metropolis sure as fuck wasn't evacuated in those.
