Did we at least finally agree that Superman has killed in the comics before? Jesus this thread is awesome.
Almost exclusively in alt universes or what if's. every single time, also resulted in him: A.quitting being superman immediately afterwards, B. going insane and killing everyone, or C. 3 years of penance to cope and deal with the ramifications of the action.
Also, that was hardly the most important criticism of this movie. But its the only one defenders of this piece of shit, are even trying to defend.
theres plenty of flak on it of course. people making videos.
Looking at my facebook, etc. I would say my comic friends are about 80% dislike, 20% like.
Waid didn't have nice things to say overall.
Landis's thoughts. might be interesting to note, he was totally ok with the neck snap. But disliked the rampant destruction. kindof backwards of my view. As, I think a core part of the character is, he can't save everyone. some people point out that was what Jonathon was trying to say. which.. might be true, but fuck was that poorly scripted then.
I do like his take on absolute power though. I think the "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" is definitely incorrect. absolute power breeds indifference.
Superman, Dr. Manhattan, or Plutonian. I'm pretty sure Dr. Manhattan is the most realistic.
guy with glasses is a mixed bag at times. But I have to say much of the thoughts here, reflect mine. Largely on the actual movie making process and the writing. Movie was cardboard speech after cardboard speech, not dialogue.
