This movie was truly terrible. I expect so little out of a superman movie. Y u do dis, Snyder?

I wish they'd just go back to making "one ex-special forces commando takes on a (commie plot/cocaine dealers/biker gang/robots from the future/convent of militant lesbian nuns)" action movies. I really do. We need more fucking Cobra and less making Stuporman even Stupider.

I watched Expendables 2 yesterday for the first time and was wishing that Man of Steel had as good a plot.

Did we at least finally agree that Superman has killed in the comics before? Jesus this thread is awesome.
Almost exclusively in alt universes or what if's. every single time, also resulted in him: A.quitting being superman immediately afterwards, B. going insane and killing everyone, or C. 3 years of penance to cope and deal with the ramifications of the action.

Also, that was hardly the most important criticism of this movie. But its the only one defenders of this piece of shit, are even trying to defend.

theres plenty of flak on it of course. people making videos.

Looking at my facebook, etc. I would say my comic friends are about 80% dislike, 20% like.
Waid didn't have nice things to say overall.

Landis's thoughts. might be interesting to note, he was totally ok with the neck snap. But disliked the rampant destruction. kindof backwards of my view. As, I think a core part of the character is, he can't save everyone. some people point out that was what Jonathon was trying to say. which.. might be true, but fuck was that poorly scripted then.

I do like his take on absolute power though. I think the "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" is definitely incorrect. absolute power breeds indifference.
Superman, Dr. Manhattan, or Plutonian. I'm pretty sure Dr. Manhattan is the most realistic.

guy with glasses is a mixed bag at times. But I have to say much of the thoughts here, reflect mine. Largely on the actual movie making process and the writing. Movie was cardboard speech after cardboard speech, not dialogue.

Dude totally calls Faora, Ursa though. They have a bit of the Donner love.

And then, the examples used were not good. It's been established, Doomsday doesn't die, he just goes into a coma and evolves in phases.

aka. John Bryne is fucking insane.

That one isn't even superdickery. that one is John Bryne is nuts.
Silver age superdickery is always some hilariously complex fake out, which granted is pretty fucking cruel half the time. Sending Supergirl to live on the moon alone for 5 years...

But that one? no that cover is accurate. Mind controlled superman and Barda shoot a porno, and have sex on camera.

Which is largely the problem here. If you want to tell a story about Superman killing someone. THAT is the story. The entire story should lead up to it. Have it, then deal with it. Its not that it can't be done. its that, if you do it, its the main focus of the story. not just some sideplot.
One of the main plot points of Doomsday was, Superman knew that the only way to stop him was to fight them to the death and they would both die. Boostergold was from the future, and knew exactly what was going to happen.

We need a new "super-rustled jimmies" meme for the couple of people that can't let this thread sit idle for more than an hour or two without posting yet again why we are terrible people for liking this movie. You pretty much got the negs you were going to get early on, you can stop fishing for more. Caliane is the only person I can see legitimately having nerd-rage due to his background.

Wrong.

Because there have been no other valid criticisms except that there was too much action.

theres plenty of flak on it of course. people making videos.

No one cares about what your douchey friends have to say.

Landis's thoughts.
Good video. Some solid well delivered nerdrage right there.
