I think you should still break up the work equally into a way that you both feel like you are contributing to the household equally.

Is your house a fucking mess and she blames it on the kids? Then yeah, she should do more around the house. Her job is to take care of the children and that includes a clean environment.

Is your house already spotless, but you just get mad that you need to take out the trash every once in a while because you "worked all day?" Then no.

We keep our shit relatively clean. It gets messy at times, but we buck up and clean it. As for the kids? Hell yeah we have them do chores. They do things like empty dishwasher, vacuum, put away their laundry when my wife folds it up and sorts it. They also have the responsibility of keeping their rooms relatively clean. The older son also has lawn duty. (although I help and supervise, and sometimes I do it when I feel like it) I do pay him for the lawn work, though. Its a bit over 1/4 acre so there is a lot of it.

They bitch and moan about it but Im pretty steadfast with that shit. No clean? No video games for tonight. And watch them clean like magic.

This is how our parents were with us. Most of my friends/neighbors didn't have to do any of that stuff and they all grew up as shitty people. My brother and I are successful motherfuckers in work and in life and I attribute it to the work ethic my parents instilled in us.
