It is worth a lot... it also looks uncomfortable. I feel like if she did the traditional thing of putting the wedding band before/after it it isn't going to work right. Looks like the type of ring that will dominate a finger.

That isn't a diamond in the center. Or if it is that is the most yellow diamond I've ever seen. Those small little diamonds aren't actually that expensive. It looks somewhat similar to my wife's engagement ring (my wife's only has 1 band of halo not two .. basically remove the outer one) and has a 0.75c diamond in the middle and I think all said and done (platinum placement, tax, warranty) it was ~$3800. I can't recall the exact figure off the top of my head. But if that center stone isn't a diamond (it appears to be ~1c or so if it is) that would be significantly cheaper. But a true 1c diamond is like $4500 alone or so. A 1c with that color would be about $7.50, though.

-edit-

Or maybe I don't know about diamonds

So I know that the ring talk was a few pages ago, but a girl I know got engaged over the weekend and posted a picture of it on Facebook. She comes from a pretty rich family, and while I wouldn't say she's a gold-digger in any way, she's definitely got expensive tastes because she's just never known any different (she's a teacher, and drives a Cayenne her daddy gave her, for example. I would be fucking embarrassed to roll up to my school as a teacher driving that vehicle). She's an extremely nice person etc etc. Anyways, I don't know her fiance well, but he's a super nice guy and comes from money too. The resultant engagement ring is somewhat obscene:

I know sweet fuckall about jewelry, but I'm curious: how much is that fucker worth?
If that's a real yellow diamond in the middle, then it cost a fuckload I believe. Hope she's hot.. Posting jewelery on facebook is the douchy female equivalent of a dude posting his new Camaro on his newsfeed.

But by virtue of the fact that they are wearing ugly, trite gaming meme shirts they are qualifying themselves as nerds.
This is the only appropriate nerd attire.

It is hard to tell the three C's from the picture. Jeweler's guild has a test so sensitive it has to be graded by computer for seeing how cleanly people can distinguish colors. They give you four boxes with 16 caps each with a colored dot and it forms a full spectrum. You have to put them in order. You don't pass unless you score 95%+, I scored in the bottom 10th percentile. And it isn't a great picture, added onto that.

But the stone is probably around $20-25k, though take that with a grain of salt because it really is hard to tell with the lighting. From there how much they got ripped off by is anyone's guess. Cheapest way to get a ring like that is buy all the stones yourself and have someone make it. But most people just go buy it and if you get it from a name brand store the price is much higher.

If the stone isn't as nice as it seems to be, cut that price in half. But you'd probably need to see the lab report to be sure of that.

Yeah, the big stone is a yellow diamond, and it's safe to say that it's of very good quality. And I agree, I think it's ugly and ridiculous as fuck.

Never understood the allure of getting a yellow diamond (or really any non-white diamond). Not only is yellow one of the undesirable traits of one dimension of the 4 C's, but if you get one that size many people will assume it's a topaz or sapphire. Plus yellow looks ugly in general, it's just too representative of a bad diamond. That ring in particular looks stupid also, thin band + oversized setting with a huge stone. Old lady jewelry indeed. Actually, I really like my grandma's rings, but that's because my grandpa chose them and he's got a background in stones.

Naturally the refractive index of a diamond is much, much higher than a topaz, so people who know gemstones will immediately know it's not a topaz, but I feel like if you get one you'll either live with knowing everyone thinks your 10-20k ring is a 2k ring, or you'll have to explain the yellow diamond all the time.

It's technically higher than a diamond, but it refracts differently than a diamond, basically having two bands of light which is undesirable. The best way to describe it is with this image:

Never heard of Amora before (As much bullshit as I talk about gems I don't really pay attention and am just a layman). Pretty neat, but I don't think it beats a diamond based on this video:

See I actually wish my wife wanted a blue sapphire ring. I think they're (or emerald, or ruby) much better looking than a white gem like diamond or moissanite.

My bigger concern with Noodle is that apparently he is trying to bang out a kid before the first year of marriage is even in the books. Holy hell.
I thought the SOP was to bang the kid out first, then get married. So you're worried he's taking too long?

Man, I totally agree that people that wear Team Jerseys out about town are douches. I don't agree that they are faking at being true fans.
I work in Houston. 90% of the people wearing Texan's jerseys are faking. Sales sluts are the worst about it.

I got mine a natural blue sapphire. It's her favorite stone.
