MY wife's parents are actual missionaries like to the level where Jesus probably signs their paychecks. And by that I really mean my wife sends them extra money to keep them afloat while they bitch about Obamacare providing them actual insurance because he is probably Muslim and not white like Jesus.
Also, Noodle, most women hide under their mom's skirts no matter how insane they might be. Most of this is because many mothers like to pound their insecurities into their daughters, at least in my experience. My wife keeps a tight orbit around her mom, but at least she realized a lot of what her mom says is bullshit. That realization comes with age, though.

I learned most of what she said was bullshit when we were putting offers in on a house and she told us to raise our offer by $15k to make sure we got it, we weren't even turned down....

If you actually paid attention to what I posted you would probably draw the (correct) conclusion that I fall more on the white knight side of things. This thread is not about respect as much as it is navigating the drama to a place of happiness, at least in my mind.

If your longest term friends agree with you 100% of the time about everything without the slightest word of dissent, then you are probably both in a cult. Even regular friends fight and bitch about stupid shit, to say nothing of couples who spend their entire lives together. And if you aren't, then she is probably bitching about you to her mom or her female friends just like a lot of us are bitching about our women to each other in this thread.

I mean you can try and insult me if you want in that sense. If you want to really know the reason my wife and I split up it's because she was going to have to make compromises in her life and go without doing things that she truly wanted. We sat down and talked and I told her she needs to "follow her dreams" even if it meant not taking me along.

Not an insult, I just think your perspective on this discussion is flawed. Recognizing reality and differences between the genders does not mean there is a lack of respect for women. Hating third wave feministas does not make one a misogynistic pig, either. I guess I just cannot conceive of a situation where separating with my wife would be an acceptable trade off for something else, which is where you lose me. But I am also old fashioned in some ways and these people out in Cali who have been married three times and act like its normal blow my mind as well. I am curious how you ended up where you are, but its your business whether you want to spill details on that or not.
But I do know I do not give a divorced man's relationship advice as much weight. Its like my fat ass handing out nutritional advice. Its nothing personal. I consider this thread a safe zone for airing out bullshit and getting insult free advice. I figure anyone here is either providing or looking for fresh perspective. No need to shit on someone doing that.

Hyperbole and generalizations need to be given a somewhat wider berth in this thread otherwise it would be monumentally boring, with nobody able to comment outside the confines of their specific relationship(s).
EDIT: Phaz's statement rings true depending on the ethnicity/background of the girl. Date an Italian or Jewish girl and she's pretty much talking to her mom every day. Not necessarily bad from a macro level, they just have a real tight family thing going on.
