Are you fucking serious? This isn't "me doing something to a stranger" -- this is a rational adult choosing between different potential partners. In your narrow little example, this hypothetical man and woman have a perfect relationship until someone like me comes along and demolishes it solely on the basis of my charisma? That isn't how the real world works; in the real world, people know their relationship is on thin ice or just plain right sucks and then something better comes along. I do not believe a good relationship is threatened by outsiders -- only weak ones are.

I tend to lean towards consequential ethics: I think anyone willing to interfere with someone elses relationship should do so knowing full well that this may drive some people to violence. But do I think women are to be claimed like the passenger seat of a car? First one that sees it gets it? Get the fuck out of here; that isn't how the world works and only bitter weak unattractive men subscribe to that shit because they're completely intimidated by the idea of having to compete and stay attractive. So much more appealing to the fat complacent man to throw a ring on it and then put his fingers in his ears and say ("Nah nah nah now shes off limits can't hear you.")

This is how you end up wiping your greasy stained fingers on your massive beer belly while posting red pill shit to rerolled and insisting that all women are sluts.

There are thousands of women out there each and every one of us would get along amazingly with and not a single one of them are "perfect", or even "perfect for me". Ignoring the moral/ethical hazard for a second, why in the hell would you want to be with someone who is so quick to change partners? Your shit dont stink or something? Good women dont drop their partners at the drop of a hat and any woman that did would just do it to you down the road when they found someone better than you.

I wouldn't want my wife to stay with me for a second if she thought she could do better. I abide by the golden rule!

All of this being said, I prefer a simple life. I am happily married and I haven't messed around with a taken girl for the last decade. It's too much stress and drama and I don't like being the direct agent of suffering.

Look, guys, you're entitled to your opinion as I am to mine. At the end of the day, I hope you find someone cool to be with and stay competitive because regardless of how much you want to call me a sociopath, there do exist other men out there who are single, competitive, and absolutely willing to apply stress to your relationship. Don't get complacent.

Phoenix, people can and do end long relationshipsfor themselves-- sometimes it takes a third party to make it clear how much better it would be. And sometimes that works out, sometimes it doesn't. You can spout off morally objective statements about how things ought not be that way, but thingsare that way.

It's a tougher question than you think. In the dating thread, the guys generally get to a consensus and have the same rules or wisdoms to share, but here? You have the guy who married his boss despite everyone telling him to run, serial daters, there's newly divorced turned sour and some who turn into horny teenagers, the happily rich and married, another who's sexless and miserable, some who stay for the sake of the kids, some who break it up for the sake of the kids, etc etc. There's also the universally happy bunch of us in a relationship with a bangmaid who get derided by all the others for being with a bangmaid.

The posters on this thread are a surprisingly diversified bunch of different caricatures.

Last segment of the thread. Open relationship fellows who laugh at all of us monogamous guys, and let's face it they're probably right. Man i wish I had the charisma or energy to have a full time partner and bring in side shows as or when needed.

I'm in the formerly bitter, but now relieved and getting on with my life category. Spent a year and a half alone, working things out for myself and not really wanting any companionship. Now just getting back in to the dating pool. Have had a couple of different flings over the last couple of months and boy is it good to be back.

Biggest thing is to be as objective as possible and keep your ducks all in order. I know it's hard to keep the feelings under control.but the more you can present a solid front to your soon to be ex and the eventual judge the better you will come out of it on the other side.

I'm mostly bitter because I went for the self improvement route and it improved my life in every area except getting women. Over the past 5 years, I nearly tripled my income, bought a house, and put $100k in the bank, and lost like 50 pounds. Yet my ability to attract women seems to be less than it was 5 years ago. The Internet told me I'd be drowning in pussy if I did this shit. Why did you lie to me, Internet?
