Sorry, was posting from my phone, so it was short and not particularly constructive. As a fellow beer enthusiast, I was rubbed the wrong way by the outcry of "quit immediately for your wife" posts, instead of preaching compromise. If she's getting pissed that he can't not get bombed every Friday night, then sure, but that's not what I heard from his description of the situation. If my wife prohibited me from cracking a beer after the end of the work week, then I'd have a huge problem with that because it's something I genuinely enjoy (and have made no secret for as long as we have known each other!)

All that being said, you definitely have to tread lightly around a pregnant wife and certainly not insist on behaving in a way that is not in line with being a good parent. Again, I'm assuming she's totally not down with you having a few beers ever, so that's where I find it to be just as much her problem...

If it really is just a 6 pack on a friday night, I also fail to see the big deal. Unless you really are a gigantic asshole.

Or if she's sitting around plotting things for you to do on the weekend, and drinking a 6 pack is not one of those things. That might also be a problem!

Now if it's a 6 pack on Friday night, a case on Saturday morning, and some of the hair of the dog what bit you on Sunday... maybe she has a point. We just don't know!

Gravy got a tiny head, yo.

Yeah I don't see what the big deal is. But obviously she does. Maybe try talking to her, or alternate, do what she wants on weekend, then chill and have some beers the next one.

We only got one side of the story. For all we know he turns into a drunk dickhead and she hates it. Not saying he does, but we have no idea

Just spent the whole weekend with my girlfriend and her mom on a road trip to visit some of her family. I managed to be polite pretty much the whole time. Long term relationships suck.

I can't take more than half an hour in the car with my own mother. And she's my own mother, and I love her.

Cause I a good boy.

Chaos has an unhealthy infatuation with Norman Bates. How many times has he mentioned him in the last few pages? I think we need an intervention bros.

What? I'm more upset we have a mod posting pics of members without consent. Dumar is going to be really mad considering you got the one photo of him without a fedora on.

The definition of alcoholism doesn't have a lot to do with how much you are drinking. It's the fact that you are suffering consequences from your drinking and continuing to drink in the face of them. I'm not saying you're an alcoholic, but you have to ask yourself why drinking is important enough that you are willing to make your wife unhappy and as a result make yourself less happy in order to do it.

Well said here. I also feel as a man it is somewhat your job to keep your pregnant wife happy much at the cost of your own happiness.

Even if her requests are completely unreasonable? Let's pretend for a minute that Calhoon's side of the story is 100% accurate. He likes to drink on the weekends and isn't an asshole when he does drink. Why should he stop just because it annoys his wife? Her being annoyed is not drinking affecting his life, per Brutul's definition. It's simply her being annoyed, going from the few details we have.

Because her request isn't unreasonable. At least not in my view. She is pregnant so she is unable to drink and for whatever her reasons are doesn't want him to drink as well. Sounds reasonable to me. It takes two to get someone pregnant all the detriments of the experience shouldn't be completely shouldered by the female if the couple is married.

And I also feel we're not getting the whole story. I'm sure there is a genesis of her reasons for disliking his drinking on the weekends I doubt it is coming out of the blue.
