I've only had two serious relationships, and I just have to echo what some of you guys are saying. My first was 100% American and to put it lightly was fucking insane. It was actually quite a shocker for me as at the time I thought if you just treated someone with respect and compassion everything would be groovy haha, what a wake up call that was... Anyways fast forward to now and I'm married to a beautiful Bengali women who was adopted at age 10 from Bangladesh and brought over to the states. We've been together for 4 years now, and she still cooks dinner every night, packs my lunch in the morning, does laundry, works 40 hours a week, and treats me with love and respect. Sure she can get a bit uppity if I play D3 or something all day, but that's pretty normal I think, and I vastly prefer her caring about spending time with me than the opposite.

Ortega so you let her cook all the time, make your lunch and wash your cloths when she works as well?

But if he makes most of the money, fixes anything that needs fixing around the house, does the yard, fixes the cars, etc... thats perfectly fine?

Yes it is horrible for each person to have things they do around the house. Truly misogynistic horseshit!

Well... the "American Dream" is basically the man being a dad for his wife and the wife being a mom for her husband. I mean, that literally is the American Dream

I don't think so. "the ideal that every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative' is the definition more people would use.

Update First:

Packed up my stuff and moving it into the moving van tonight after work and moving to my new place tomorrow morning. Still about 50/50 on the whole thing although there is nothing I can do about it. But I aim to get over this quickly as a lot you are right (surprisingly?) and I have completely lost all patience for this shit. I have no time to dwell on it since it wont do anything. Which is strange because I am generally extremely patient.

Kind of awkward living with her the past few weeks. She's done her damnedest to avoid me the whole time. But I can't say that the entitlement mentality is a white girl thing. My now Ex grew up in Panama, and I am still the 8.5/10 (I moved up in the past few weeks apparently) of whom she deserves a 10/10. Although Latinas are known for drama. Somehow I just don't think she's going to find that 10/10. You can find something wrong with anyone if you want to.

But let us see what awaits on the green pastures of Austin. So to speak.

You need to snap out of it and come down to reality. You have got to be kidding me with that quote... are you 10?

You really think most people would say the definition of "The American Dream" is yours than that one? I'm not saying it's necessarily reality, but that's what people think of when they think of "The American Dream." That definition is from dictionary.com and the second one there is also more fitting than "Let's be our parents." I mean, Jesus Christ, just about every American immigrant story ever told starts with that idea of the American Dream.

Google that phrase and see what definition the first couple dozen results are more like.
