In his earlier posts I believe he said that his wife wanted sex more then him and wasn't bad at it. So I don't know about frigid and boring, at least on that front. It just so happens that he's madly in love/infatuated with the new strange. So of course the sex is going to be great as long as she or he isn't hopeless. Those first couple months of screwing like bunnies is usually the best sex in the relationship.

The whole thing just smacks of an early mid life crisis. Sacrificing a good business and going back to school, upgrading to a supposedly better woman at the same time, etc.

Either way it is his call and he isn't the worst scum in the world. The only people directly effected by this are him and his wife. No kids to hurt.

It is still a shitty move to pull though. No two ways around that.

It's not the monogamy that is the problem just the lying and deceit. If he told his wife, look we need to have an open relationship there is this chick at school I want to plow, I think he's on good footing. Anyway, I agree with this. Sure its a crappy way to treat her and it will hurt her. But every time infidelity comes up on this board people jump in talking about how terrible of a human being the cheater is and shit. That's just exaggerated to me, its a selfish move maybe but its not some sociopathic thing.

The act of cheating, the sexual part of it, to me isn't all that abhorring at all. It's understandable that many, maybe even most of us can't be faithfully monogamous forever and remain happy.

But when you feel like a relationship has run its course you should at least be honest with the person you took that vow with. Hell even two people who aren't married but had just agreed to be in a monogamous relationship should show that much respect.

But that old adage rings true. It's easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

The worst part to me is the premeditation. He thought it over and went through with it. Get drunk and bang some chick at the bar? She should leave you but at least I understand that one a bit. He actually thought it over and still decided to proceed without telling his wife. Its just unfathomable amounts of scummy.

Always remember that these forums are largely comprised of high functioning autistic men who have an unshakable black-and-white opinion on, well, everything. While noble, it's ultimately pointless to try to help them understand complex emotions and differing world views. They're literally incapable of empathy or comprehending someone else's perspective.

I comprehend womies' "situation" just fine. I fail to see where he deserves any empathy though. I doubt he'd have much empathy for his wife if the situation were to be reversed and treating others the way you'd like to be treated is a pretty decent standard to go by when it comes to dishing out empathy in a situation like this.
