You have to find a replacement for RDJ before thinking about changing him, I think the issue is no one want's the part, everyone wants him too play Stark, but he doesn't want Stark to be his last role =/(And with Civil War coming around... people will get killed)

Rumor mill is that SOMEONE is going to die. I highly doubt it's Hawkeye. He's had the last character development of any other character. It'd be disingenuous of them to just be like, what do we do with him? Dunno lol, let's kill him?
They could go the route of killing stark and using his brain for vision. There was an old rumor that vision would be the reverse ironman ,eg, stark playing Jarvis' role. Which would fit in with him being cast for cap3.

Wow. I love Josh Whedon and his ability to translate stories to screen. This movie should have the highest box office but Star Wars VII comes out Dec. 18th. I think both will do fine in the money department.

They should die. It's a good thing. It's not like they can't reboot the whole thing in a few years, but we at least get a poignant story for a moment. Sacrifices and sorrow add a lot to the story. The lack of consequences is my biggest turn-off concerning comics. The mini-series that have beginnings and endings are just better.
I'd like to get movies that are just little islands in the overall patchwork. Like, "Hey kids, did you learn what happened in World War 5? Let's take a look at the role The Avengers played." Time slips backwards to Deadpool and Human Torch eating it at the Battle of San Juan in the first five minutes of the film. Maybe a few fourth wall breaks where a kid disagrees with the teacher about what happened ala Princess Bride, and back to the story. There is no direct sequel or prequel. The next film is a separate time with +/- team members.

I restating your point to someone else. But it works for you too. If they want to kill someone off because of money, that's manufactured but it's not organic to the story. If they want to kill stark to finalize his story arc and bring in vision, that's manufactured but it's organic to the story.
I don't want to see a story arc and immediately be able to figure out that it happened because of something outside the movie. Eg, Thor is unworthy because women's rights.
