Yeah, but I don't want days of future ultron. There was like, little to nothing at stake. Characters died and it was the equivelant of getting knocked out. No finality. Same thing with xmen3. Prof x dies and its terrible. Then halfway through the credits its reversed. You end up just feeling like a chump for even caring. Its one thing for cap to die and get replaced with winter soldier. Its another for Thor to die and then just get reborn 40 minutes later.

Probably not. Tony is really fucking up a lot lately isn't he? Small wonder that Capt wants him out.

Well there is 3 possible Wins with Civil War, but sense this is the start of it, who will die first is the question the death that sparks the Registration Act, even in the comics was pretty wicked(destroyed 8 city blocks in Vegas + a elementary school).

And I have a feeling that Ultrons creation is from Jarvis him self, Hydra might have a little play in it but not a whole lot.

recent comics event stems from tony fucking up
The red skull takes over xaviers dead brain is now red skull onslaught, he has created 2 giant sized adamantium stark sentinels that are programmed with knowledge of every weakness/power of all the registered superheroes from the civil war, knowledge stark thought he deleted but still kept around.

And, at this point, they should be raising the stakes in the Marvel Universe. The only notable deaths we've seen so far are Bucky Barnes, Agent Coulson, and Nick Fury, all of which were reversed, making death about as meaningless as it in comics. If they want to show how dangerous things are becoming and that no one is safe, they need to pull out the stops and kill someone off for good.

However, I'm not really sure if Avengers 2 is the point where they should do it. Joss Whedon has established a reputation of being the guy who likes to kill off characters. It's not really going to be as much of a shock when someone dies in Avengers 2 since everyone is going to go into that movie expecting it.

Prior to that, Agents of SHIELD is also really going to need to start emphasizing the consequences of Agent Coulson's resurrection. Project TAHITI still exists as a deus ex machina in the event of an Avenger dying, and the only downside to that appears to be occasionally breaking out in alien writing. They need to remove that safety net.

I think you overestimate the number of people who know who Joss Whedon is, let alone that he has a reputation for killing off characters. Nerds and internet junkies like us know, sure, but your average movie-goer has no idea who he is, beyond possibly hearing his name vaguely referenced at some point. I think there would be plenty of shock if a major character were to die in Avengers 2.

RDJ is going to get sidelined and Vision is going to take him place having most of the knowledge and powers of Iron Man, but without the 40-million-a-movie charm. Also it appears from the poster that this is indeed setting up for Civil Wars. It's Cap and IM standing next to each other in front of Ultron. And IM is fighting Hulk in the movie which could be the impetus for Stark to support the registration act because people like Hulk can go unchecked and wreck half a city. And Cap will still be hot off his "I just downed SHIELD, fuckers" high and say too much regulation isn't what they need.

I hope Thor wins the whole movie because no one is talking about him in the slightest. Poor Thor.

I certainly hope they do not kill any characters, be they heroes or villain.

That is the kind of story development I would expect in a popcorn movie like the Transformers or Charlies Angels. Which the Avenger movie has not been thank god.

I think the old batman movies showed that you can chop and change the actor playing a character, with reasonable success. Audiences seem to be fairly forgiving of that.

The challenge will be in the writing, keeping everything simple and acceptable to the movie going audience.

They kill off characters that have hundreds of millions of dollar movie potential in the future all the time.

Hey they always have the X Men, Fantastic 4 and Spiderman to fall back on amirite?

Didn't Whedon say forever ago that the movie starts with the Avengers being stressed out from not having SHIELD to take care of the piddly threats? A timeline along the lines of

Intro: Avengers clean up threat_4,251 (probably Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver).
Fight is straw that breaks stressed-out Banner's control, goes Hulky.
Iron Man breaks out the Hulkbuster armor and contains him.
Avengers forced to use Jarvis-drones due to lack of manpower.
AI realizes the situation is unfixable with current level of human freedom, only option is to enslave humanity for their own good (cue voice-over speech), using SW & QS.
Somehow Jarvis/Ultron splits between The Vision that loves SW and the Ultron that doesn't care, siblings switch to Vision's side.
Ultron is defeated, with someone probably dying in process.

seems pretty reasonable.

Doesn't Tony Stark still have to remake all his Iron Man suits? I'd guess that somewhere in that process is where Ultron is born

It is possible I've been more hyped for a movie, but I can't remember it (no, not even Man of Steel). Jesus, James Spader is just perfect on that voice-over. I get chills every time I watch it.

I don't know how I'm going to be able to wait for this to come out.

The big issue is that they don't have all the rights to the characters that should actually be in the Civil War, no Spiderman, no X-men, no Fantastic 4, Sony/Fox just needs to let there rights go so it can be done fucking right....

Well assuming what we already know from the interview last week.

Tony will not be the one to die, my theory is it will be Steve Rogers since Evans want's out anyway.
Laying the groundwork for Cap 3 in Civil War. My guess is this will happen at the end of the film leaving a Cliffhanger.

He will still be in Cap 3, and the twist will be his return setting up Avengers 3. They will probly use this to introduce the new Cap to audiences after Evans hangs up the shield in Avengers 3.
