I guess the writers also thought Roz was no longer an interesting character once her ambiguity vanished. A bit of a shame though, because they had enough interesting an actress to try and find something for the character. The best example of that is in Hart of Dixie where a totally peripheral character became one of the leads because of how great the actress was in the part.
they pulled the same shit with lucy lawless. i liked both characters, but nope gotta kill them off.

Yea, I was a little disappointed when she actually died. I liked the character and the chemistry with Coulson. I get that they needed him in a bloodlust for Ward, but still.. I was enjoying the banter between the two of them.

The problem is the show is good at making characters, but there's not enough show to keep them all around.

Yea.. they could have some of them take some time off, the way May did, though. I mean, I like Mack, May, Lincoln, Skye Hunter, and Bobbi.. but if one/all of them left for a few episodes, so that they could focus on a Roz/Coulson storyline, that would have been fine too. Anyways, I'm just nit picking, I like the show overall so it's fine. Don't mean to sound like I'm upset with them, just a kind of 'aw.. that could have been cool' complaint.

I liked the episode.

Now rumor mill time.

Next season 2016/2017 will be three shows.

AoS : will center on Coulson and May
Secret Warriors : will center on Sky/Daisy and the other Inhumans on her team
S.H.I.E.L.D. Mercs (working title) will be the Bobbi and Hunter spin off centering on those 2.

Now three shows in one night... Not sure it will work. However again this is the rumor mill no facts yet.

I think a better thing would be to have them focus on Secret Warriors/Merc/Team Coulson in 2-3 episode arcs. That way you can have this large cast get more screen time during their arcs and less when the other group(s) arcs are going on.

This show isn't good enough to be split up into 3 pieces. I doubt you will get coherent stories if you break up the "whedonverse" like that. Plus, if you cut all the mercs and inhuman stuff from AoS, what the hell is left to watch?

Again not my choice. Just the stuff I have been piecing together from Marvel/ABC folks I follow who work on the show.

Also of note. It is my understanding that AOS is a ratings immune show at least until after Infinity War 2 in 2018. So it could tank and will still stay on the air since it's sorta the glue between MCU movies for Marvel's stories.

A better example would be Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Who the fuck is watching Hart of Dixie?

Sawthisyesterday which gives some perspective on why she was destined to not hang around. What a way to go too.

This show is very good at cockblocking it's characters.

Shame, 'cause I like that actress, and thought it could have been a pretty cool match up.

I think they moved that along a little too fast though. When he's not possessed by alien DNA, Coulson is always shown to be level-headed and logical, so it feels a little forced to have him go off so half-cocked and suicidal over someone he met a few weeks ago, most of which was playing her for intel.

As much as I enjoy Agents of SHIELD, they're starting to relyfartoo heavily on characters forming relationships just to screw them over as a plot point. I get that Whedon and his family are involved in the show, but it's really starting to feel like a Whedon overdose. How many relationships have we seen screwed over so far this season? That's basically the only purpose Fitz and Simmons serve in the show anymore.

You're overlooking the fact that not only was she killed right in front of him, it was done by Ward, who he already has plenty reason to hate. Add to that the fact that, as he mentioned in this episode, Coulson feels responsible for the shit Ward has done. It's more than plausible.

Yeah even if the relationship stuff in general is heavyhanded in this show, I didn't hate the Coulson thing. The fact that it was Ward/Hydra certainly gives it extra juice.

That is what I was thinking. It is more that this was the final fucking straw with Ward. What he did to fitz, bobbi etc etc.

Ward becomes possessed by the Hydra thing sensing his true evilness, comes back and starts making evil villain plans.

nah, ward was doing that already. i think Will or Fitz are more likely candidates if thats how they play it. maybe for shits and gigs let it be in coulson. malek is gonna be killed and ward gets stuck over there temporarily. would be funny if coulson and ward end up working together to stop the thing from going through.
