That reads like some Wakanda nonsense but replace blacks with women.

He says that before 10,000 years ago all the civilizations were run by matriarchies.

....what does he base this claim on?

Because pre 10,000 years ago is mostly an enigma. Everyone's abuzz these days over things like Ancient Apocalypse and how we really don't know what humans were doing in the antediluvian times. Around 12k years ago was some sort of climate disaster, followed by a few thousand years of nothing (recovery), followed by the "dawn" of civilization 6-8k years ago. But now we're finding all these old ruins that are being dated at 12-30k years old and are more advanced than anything should have been "pre-civilization", causing people to believe civilization has been around a lot longer than the accepted "6-8k years" and has probably risen and fallen many times over. I mean, modern humans being around with their modern intelligence for the last 200k years and taking 192k of that to form a civilization doesn't make any sense, does it?

My point is that we know basically nothing about pre-10k years ago, much less that they had civilizations led by "councils of women". Not saying that didn't happen, just saying I have no idea how he'd know that this was the norm until "men took over" due to the hunter-gatherer era. Maybe he's right, men did gain a whole lot of power during that 4000-year recovery period between the climate disaster (~11.7k years ago) and the "dawn of civilization".

TLDR: It sounds like he just read some fictional stories and decided that they were spot-on historical retellings of an era that none of us really has any actual concrete information on. Essentially, Wakanda nonsense of a fictional utopia that has never existed in known history and amounts to wishful thinking at the end of the day.

There is no detailed record of anything older than 5 or 6000 years ago and it's still sketchy as fuck. Imagine man being around for a million years and we only have a vague record of events up to 5000 years ago.

my interest in this movie has plummeted

boomer revisionism is a plague

Holy shit this guy read some new pop archeology books and decided this was the way?

It's really wild how many of these "artists" and "billionaires" or even just celebrities of any type are just not that impressive - at least in their worldview.

What an embarrassing post by Francis.

"Oh no! The evil Aryan came down from the Steppes and brought civilization and writing and shit!"

Not to mention, David Graeber is a Jewish "anarcho archeologist" - that should tell you all you need to know about what narrative that (dead) guy pushes.

Rolling Stone liked it. NYT too.

This movie is divisive and the division is not falling along the expected lines in every case. The Demi Moore movie is similarly divisive.

Good. We should stop being so predictable divisible.

I found a decent cam copy and tired this morning. I got 25 minutes in , realized this wasn't a bad SNL skit, and deleted it on my HTPC and the PC I found it on. Then slept for several hours to get the thoughts of it out of my head. This is real bad, really - really - really bad.

What exactly is bad about it? Is it just kind of a jumbled mess, is it the acting, or just the entire concept is retarded?

I honestly don't know exactly what it's supposed to be about, but I plan on watching it whenever comes to streams.

I heard it's laughable as well. Entire theaters laughing which was the opposite of the directors intent. So the SNL skit comparison makes sense.

I mean, what did you expect with a schlock title like Megalopolis? They could have called it The Meg 4 and gotten more money.
