Who are you even talking about? Randy Couture's first retirement lasted all of 13 months and the big win on his return was a five round decision victory over one of the worst champions in UFC history (arguably the worst), a lumbering fatass that he couldn't finish despite dropping him to the mat before the opening bell had even finished ringing. Only other 40+ title winner I can think of in the UFC was Teixeira and I certainly wouldn't call that a success story.
It was Teixeira I was specifically thinking of lol and how could you not call that a success story come on. But I guess what I meant by "successful" was that they still looked good and able to fight in the league they were fighting in, which you cant just rule out from them being 40 and having a long layoff. Others have done it, Stipe deserved the chance.

The LHW division was kind of in shambles at the time, Blachowicz was not an impressive champion, Texeira immediately lost the title (to someone who would never defend it), was too much of a pussy to fight Ankalaev after Prochazka vacated, then lost a match for the still vacant title (to yet another person who could not defend it) and retired.

I wouldn't have a problem with the match if it had happened a year ago when it was supposed to, but as soon as Aspinall was awarded the interim belt there no longer should have been a road straight to Jones. Either Jones needed to unify the belts or Stipe needed to earn what had essentially become the #1 contender position. By allowing this match to go around Aspinall instead of through him Dana chose money over legitimacy.

Best part of the night was the antics. Jones doing the dance ect, how long until he's called an uncle tom?

did you see when he took the belt and handed it to Trump and bowed to him?

If he wasn’t already out of the mainstream due to his drug issues he is now.
