Yeah I don't get the CM Punk signing, and why it is a big deal outside of the fact that he is apparently a big name in WWE.

Welcome back Duffee. His striking seemed a bit stiff and he was obviously swinging for the fences, but it paid off. Curious to see if he can make any impact on the weak HW division.

CM Punk wrecked his body in WWE and quit because of it. Now he thinks getting his ass kicked everyday in training, and then a real match he will last? Ok.

I think a lot of people under estimate WWE's popularity, CM punk could bring in a ton of new fans.

Yeah if someone like Kurt Angle was signing I'd be pretty interested, because you know he's at least got some kind of skill base to work with even if its rusty from years of faking it.

CM Punk is pretty young by the standards of pro wrestling alumni though. His body probably isn't that trashed and I doubt Dana would be hyping this so much if he was a Mick Foley level walking disaster.

The only surprise of that fight was that Schaub stayed conscious after the uppercut.

I'm gonna laugh my ass off if, after taking so fucking long to defend the goddamn belt, Pettis drops it in his first defense.

That was predictable.
Seriously.

Which really isn't that long. Brock Lesnar is 37. Urijah Faber is 35.
Lesnar was 30 when he went to MMA, and he had a high level real wrestling background. No idea what Faber has to do with anything. CM Punk beat the shit out of his body for 15 years and as far as I know has no high end real fighting background. 15 years of pro wrestling is a LOT of wear and tear.

I used Faber as an example because he just fought tonight in the prelims. CM Punk has definitely been through it, but again if he was such a trainwreck, I doubt Dana would sign him. Obviously there's no way he gets anywhere near a title shot at Middleweight or Welterweight, but he might be something more than just an embarrassment.

I know the fight just started, but holy shit did Pettis look unsure right out of the gate. He immediately was stepping backwards

Gil took the 1st for sure, but no real damage. His gameplan is definitely to give Pettis zero space. Pettis looked more comfortable towards the end of the round.

Wow, Melendez was totally in charge of that fight and Pettis snapped up that guillotine. Nicely done

Damn, that was fast. Pettis is no joke.

edit: I wouldn't say Gil was in control of the fight. Once Pettis got comfortable he was controlling the distance more and Gil couldn't get in deep any more.

I think that right that Pettis cracked him with really stunned Melendez to help him with that guillotine.
