Yeah, I can get behind this. 1 was close (Lawler early, Hendricks late), and the Cage and Pray started in round 4. I would have scored it for Hendricks, though.
49 - 46 to Lawler is still completely baffling to me.

The fightmetric numbers will be interesting. Hendricks did fuckall with the takedowns, but he landed a ton of leg kicks. When he said 49-46 I just flat out knew Johny had won. NOOOPE.
And while Robbie did land the far better punches and non leg kicks he never really rocked Johny. I wonder if they saw how passive he was at the end of the 4th and on the bottom in the 5th and thought he was near getting finished.

I think Hendricks won 4, but it was close. However, 49-46 in favor of Lawler? That's a fucking joke.
Even Herb thought it was for Johnny at the 49 - 46 as he had his arm half way raised, and yes on the 4th/5th scoring. Maybe some 10 - 8's were tossed out. Round 5 definitely seemed like a 10 - 8 to me.

I want to know who scored it 49-46 Lawler. I would have scored it a 47-47 draw tbh. Round 1 Lawler, 2-4 Hendricks, Round 5 10-8 Lawler. I assumed the 49-46 was in favor of Hendricks as well, so I was pretty stunned when dude is like 'AND NEW CHAMPION'.
It had to be something like: 9 10 10 9 8 for Hendricks on that 49 - 46. I wouldn't have scored it that way but I can't really hate on it, either.
I'm surprised given how the judging has historically gone, but I'm not dissatisfied with the decision. Fuck Hendricks for phoning in round 5 and those lameass, do-nothing takedowns. Lawler should have been awarded a bonus point just for the heart he showed in the last 15 seconds.
I'm so conditioned to think that wrestlefuck = win that I was sure Hendricks was getting points for nestling his neck between Lawler's legs, but the reality is he did literally nothing with his takedowns. He didn't even hold Lawler down. Most of the time Lawler was able to get into a position to throw great ground and pound. I'm kind of happy that this win went to Lawler. Perhaps the days of long rounds of dry humping are over if it is not enough to win fights.
Exactly. Sure, he put Lawler on his butt, but Hendricks didn't establish a stable, dominant position more than once or twice and then lost it immediately afterwards. That shouldn't count for anything and apparently didn't in one judge's eyes.

Judge 2: 10 10 10 9 9 - Hendricks
Judge 3: 10 9 9 10 10(8) - Lawler

Hendricks was employing Cage and Pray and didn't do shit the entire round while Lawler beat on him and THEN the flurry happened. 10 - 8 seems legit to me.
That isn't what happened though. Here's the cards, and I'm baffled again. The only judge I agree with is Blue, and I guess White is ok too:

Sure, he didn't do much the entire round, but Lawler's ground and pound didn't really happen until the last 50-60 seconds, and Hendricks moved around a lot of it. There's no way he was "dominate" enough for a fucking 10-8 round. Hendricks didn't do shit, but the "dominance" didn't happen until the very tail end of the round. It's ridiculous to give a guy a 10-8 round when you don't even dominate it for more than a minute. If that's the metric by which an 8 is scored, Hendricks should've gotten a 10-8 round in round 3.
Regardless, pink judge is a complete dipshit. He gave round 2 to Lawler? ROFL. I'd have been fine with all of the judges scoring it like Blue, even though I think you have to give "tossup" rounds like 4 to the champion.

I mean I can see the argument for giving round 4 to Lawler, except that he accomplished just as little as Hendricks during the Cage and Pray. So giving that round to Lawler is really just punishing Hendricks for being a bitch instead of rewarding Lawler for actually winning the round. Can you imagine if the pink judge had scored round 5 10-8 like it should have been? How fucked up would it have been to hear him announce a 49-45 judge decision.
