Am I the only one who feels like the hit impact is off? Weapons don’t feel as chunky, none of them, in comparison to World for me. Game looks and runs great but weapons don’t seem to feel as weighty and it’s a little jarring.

No you're not the only one. I said the same exact thing in a earlier post. Hits just don't feel impactful they were in World.

I booted up world to see, it is the hit stun/pause. They haven't implemented it or don't plan to, but knowing Capcom it is in works.

I've been reading on Reddit (yeah I know it's Reddit) how poorly this game runs on some systems. Some says it unoptimized and it may run even worse when they have the anti software in the retail release. Since I'm in the minority of complaints I recorded some of my gameplay using OBS to show how it runs on my system. I recorded my display and graphics settings to see if I can change anything to push my PC. I just ran around the zone and I was hoping I can find the lightning storm but I was unable to. I'm running a RTX 4090, Ryzen 9950x with 64 gigs of ram.

Reddit is full of poors.

I feel the hit impact feels fine feel with the wounds mechanic.

Maybe not as beefy as some other titles but maybe they are leaving the progression more open and slowing power creep so they can better scale into end game/dlcs/expacs?

The Greatsword's enhancements make it really attractive to me.

Shoulder block into increased charge, aim any direction from charge, and the offset counter which I like the most.

I also like that Gunlance can go crazy with shelling now since it doesn't consume your sharpness anymore.

It has to be an AMD gpu issue.

Wife and I both are above the min specs and are getting the same results in-game on AMD GPU's

It BETTER run smooth! This dude here...
Actually in some cases it's not.

I ran it with frame generation turned off and I was pulling a constant 59/60, sometimes it dipped into the mid 50's with a lot of stuff going on. Even with it turned off I should be pulling more frames.

I may throw down on a 4090 for this.

Currently running a 3080ti.

People are already pointing out that the controller control scheme is not good. At least on the default. Guess I will be running keyboard and mouse for this but that is annoying. Lance looks real hot this time as others have said.

Arekz videos are by far the best and most concise out there so far.

I knew something was off and yes you was 100% correct that the Hit/stop is less or not implemented in Wilds.

There are two aspects of weapon use that I hate in MH; this hit/stop thing and the little sounds that some weapons make when using them (not the hit sound, but the operation sound is the best I can describe, very noticeable with Hammer). Both seem to be a bit less pronounced in Wilds, atm at least, but still present enough that I'll never use Great Sword or Hammer.

Yeah I thought beta was okay but kind of disappointed? The game looks fantastic and ran great on my rig in 4k, no problems there. Character models much improved as well but I couldn't find MHW controller settings and it was a pain in the ass to try to get it set up correctly. That and the hits feeling like wet noodles tempered my sky high expectations. I'd be more keen on it if I could get a comfortable controller config, but alas... will mess more with that at release.

God damn, I was adamant that I was going to play a new weapon and not just play dual blades like world/iceborn. Tried Longsword, felt pretty ok. Tried hammer, seemed good, thought I probably found my weapon. Tried lance, didn't enjoy it. Tried gun lance and was like, well crap - this is pretty cool, maybe hammer isn't my weapon.

Then I was like "Well I should at least try dual blades and see how they changed". Cut to me playing dual blades for hours. Fuck, they feel better than worlds somehow!

How do they compare to Rise? That's the only one I have played but I was dual blades in it and loved them.

I think if you loved them in Rise you are going to love them even more in Wilds. I may be misremembering how it worked in Rise, but the general style here pretty simple.

Normal attacks - no real reason to ever use these.
Hit a key to enter Demon mode - stamina drains, but all your attacks are better and they fill your demon bar up.
Hit the same key to exit Demon mode - enter Arch-Demon mode, keeping all the demon mode moves but dealing more damage while draining the demon bar.

So, you end up just going back and forth between demon mode and arch-demon mode, one draining stam but gaining demon power while the other refills stam to drain demon power.

A couple of nice improvements-
-If you get knocked down in demon mode you immediately exit (In worlds and rise you would stay in demon mode, so your stam would still be draining while you were knocked down).
-If you perfectly dodge an attack you get a buff that makes you glow blue for bit, increases your damage, and makes every dash turn into a move that also deals damage.
-Instead of Demon dance being one long insane weapon flurry they have broken it up into Demon dance 1, 2 and 3. Makes it way less of a commitment. Also, you can insert a repositioning skill in between parts 1, 2 and 3 - so if you start dance 1 and the monster moves, you can do an attack with a foreword leap to reposition and go straight into dance 2, then do it again and go into the final dance 3. Again, just making it was less likely that you start demon dance and just stand there cutting air for 6 seconds :)

I took a 12 second clip of someone's video showing the wound break for dual blades, its fun as hell. Basically when you see a monster with a wound you can do a special focus attack where you basically latch on to the wound, leap off, shoot a grapple back to the monster and spin grind your way down its body. It's suuuuuper fun to do, and easy to pull off multiple times during a fight.

Performance improvements and addition of hitstop on attacks is all I needed to hear.
