Yeah Killed Rey just now, way too easy compared to other betas but fun testing the new weapon moves. Right now I am on the fence between hammer and lance. The smash to popeye wind up super smash is so dumb but feels great. The lance has a new triple stab at end of horizon stab and counter stance at end of upward stab.Chapathingy

Good stuff to know. As long it feel more like World than Rise I'm happy.Yeah Killed Rey just now, way too easy compared to other betas but fun testing the new weapon moves. Dual blades wound attack is the spin down length of monster so that will be really fucking strong. Combined with new ultra demon mode that lets you animation cancel anything into a dodge which gives more attack damage it gonna be a beast.
Hunting horn has a cool song delay mechanic with the ground AoE making it a premium second weapon or main. Gonna be good.
The bowguns are awful but that is due to no recoil reduction etc, I’m sure that will change.
The charge blade got even more complicated…some of y'all are gonna love it.
Gunlance I might be missing something but it feels just like world.
Bow is definitely more complicated then world but feels the same, new stuff you can do adds another level beyond dodge and shoot.
Switch axe feels the same as world.
Greatsword leaned into mobility, block, and unsheathe attacks but can still smash the same way.
Longsword feels like world
Kinsect blade is easier to use vs world and far less punishing action economy/bug use.
Downside is holding three shoulder buttons to do things is insane. To attack wounds you have to hold L2 and hit R1. With a hammer you are also holding R2. No clue how this is gonna play with mouse and keyboard.
QoL changes:
-Can optionally end quest as soon as you are done carving.
-To start a quest attack a monster.
-Seamless hub to monster hunting.
-Free fast travel
-Mount is godly, instantly pick you up, moves to target while you do any prep, can sling grab items off ground as it roams or moves to target. It is so good I am 99% sure certain monsters you going to have to mount to escape a big blast/insta death moves.
-Map has perfect information at all times, highly customizable and can rotate etc.
-Can cook right from tent.
Forgetting a few things but this is world 2. So good, so stoked.
Its 100% a World sequel, don't worry. There are flashier attacks for most weapons, but it still feels like World to me. One thing about the Mount that most might not know. If you press the Left d-pad button, it will summon your mount AND automatically switch to your other weapon. So no need to press the Up dpad, then Left dpad. Felt great.Good stuff to know. As long it feel more like World than Rise I'm happy.
I got zero rise vibes except the grapple to ground spawns to collect them and pulling down traps almost feels like a wire bug move. Combat and monster hunting in general is very much World 2.Really looking forward to trying on pc soon - hoping you guys are right and it's a World successor not Rise - from video's I'd seen I was fearing it was a Rise-esque title so hoping I was wrong!
Day one buy for sure, all the little things they fixed from world alone is awesome. The new monster wound mechanic is fun and absolutely can not wait to get to crafting.
You know you gonna put 3000 hours into this!Ok. You've peaked my interest!
