Pretty obvious there are major technical issues with this game based on that analysis in the video. Monster Hunter World looked better than this and was streamlined on hardware generations old. Again, only PC here. I have not been able to play yet but I will be playing on PS 5 Pro which, according to Zindan doesn't seem to be causing a lot of issues in performance mode outside of connection issues.
Either way, it is safe to say the PC version of this game is borked at the moment. It isn't the end of the world and I am sure it will be patched - but your reply is fucking stupid.
They really shouldn't be using RE Engine for open world games and stop trying to fit a square peg in a round whole. EA did this with Frostbite and it was equally as retarded.

I'm on a beast machine and the game runs/is optimized like shit compared to any triple A with far better visual fidelity released within the last 5 years. No question there.
It's basically as bad/worse than DD2 so that can be your benchmark if you played that on a lower end system.
Still fun and I'm not poor so it doesn't affect me otherwise, but this engine is fucked for this game type or they just put in the bare minimum effort to make it better.

The presentation of your unhappiness with the game was as bad as the games PC performance. Aside from that, the video is pretty damning and something funky is going with that client.

My memory may be off, but when I played World on the XB1 / PS4 Pro, it ran like dogshit and I was limited to 30fps (maybe a bit higher on the PS4 Pro), but other than that game being more colorful, it still had low res textures all over the place. When I played it on PC, I think I was using a 1060, and again, it wasn't that much better than the PS4 Pro. Now, my 3060 did manage to run World really smooth, but it didn't look as crisp as other games.
The game was developed with only 4k /30fps for console in mind, imo. Just a severe lack of dedication to make it for PC.

When you get a chance to play, you might need to mess around with HDR brightness settings to get Performance mode to look good (in terms of lighting / color). Also, it appears the game doesn't support VRR, though you can force it (will test it that makes it worse or not). Been running the game at capped 60 an its been pretty smooth. Going to try out uncapped + VRR, I think DF mentioned this combo made the game run less smoothly in Performance, so I'll see.

It's a low end issue. Everything juiced at 4k with high res textures and all the fixins looks nice and clean.
But that comes with a caveat that I'm stuck at a 60 fps cap without running frame gen garbage which is just abysmal.

Also with those who have got in and put in some hours what are your thoughts on focus mode? Seems pretty much mandatory to use while hunting from the various weapons I've tried due to all the benefits in move/attack range, targeting wounds etc. I made it a toggle so I don't have to bother holding it down, but why wouldn't they just make the default move sets give said bonuses if you're basically gimping yourself not using it <_<

Loving this game - optimization is ass, but it looks great for me once I tweaked it a bit. The menu system though and burying all perntinent options under a mountain of other options is... not ideal. Still don't love the UI/Menu system, but haven't in any MH games.

Focus mode is amazing, imo, as a Gunner. Though I can see "old timers" not liking it as it is a very lucrative source of extra materials.

Game looks decent enough on my 3070, but I'm running at 1080p/60 with basically all post processing turned off and the default texture pack. The changes to HBG are interesting, having separate magazines as weapon options is something I want to explore. Also, coming from Rise/Sunbreak I was amazed how reliant I had become on wirebugs for mobility. Need to get the 'dodge-sheathe-skedaddle' muscle memory back so I stop carting to L1 trash fights or fully internalize the new perfect guard mechanic. Will say that being able to just snatch up damn near anything within 50m or so with the slingbow is a really nice QoL upgrade combined with the Seikret auto-travel.

I passed on this because of performance issues, which I am glad I made the right call. Will probably check this out on sale after they hopefully fix it.
