So my favorite hunt of the game so far was the Red/Azure Rathalos quest that gives you the Challenger Mantle. I was a bit scared to take it at first considering that Rathalos was one of the top dogs in Low Rank, and Azure Rath is even worse. I hadn't yet fought Rath in HR yet. And then it all became epic. The third monster on map was Bazelgease. And he dogged those Rathalos until they were dead. He followed them (and me) around the entire map and wouldn't stop (I had Dung Bombs but didn't bother since he really seemed like he wanted to fuck the Raths). He is absolutely massive for a flying wyvern, and has a Godzilla roar, probably my favorite monster ever in the series. He does everything that you ever wanted Deviljho to do, pop into your quests and absolutely murder everything in sight. Janx/Hatorade/I had tried the Bazel quest once and got rolled, haven't tried him again since. Soon my precious.... soon.

Also, did the quest to get the third tree upgrade, Legiana/Odogaron. Two plates and a gem lol. My luck sometimes.

So for people further along in the game. Regarding Armor, I've been prioritizing things this way:

1. Defense
2. Skills/Set bonuses
3. Cosmetics
4. Ele resits

Am I biting myself with negative Ele (I think I'm -6 vs Thunder which honestly might not be a lot). It seems like the bulk of most damage is physical anyways with Ele being more of a special skill that a monster has...at least so far as HR 9.

If you're a Hammer Bro like myself you want to get the KO Charm. The Sleep/Paralysis Hammer and Diablos set for the increased KO/Slugger stats so you can KO shit more. But do keep in mind that low X resist does mean you can get one shotted by that elemental attack type in a lot of cases.

The insect sets look really cool to me though and I wish they had higher stats.

Ive got about 5 hours in now, feel completely lost in a good way so far. Insect Glaive is starting to feel good. The want to just mash buttons is slowly going away.

Had a blast doing Special Arena: Rathian with Ut last night. Even if I did play bow sloppy as hell. She died relatively quick.

It isn't like I've ran numbers or anything but the diablos set and the KO charm has me KOing shit considerably more often than without it.

Did BG last night. Was way easier than I expected after I had seen all his mechanics from the times hes jumped me. Also killed Black Diablos which gives a Negra Diablos armor set. Not sure I saw it in any of hte videos.

Definitely sounds better. in 4u and Gen i hammerbro'd constantly. Nearly 100% of the time. I ran a KO king set at one point. I maybe got 1 extra KO in a long hunt.

I've been doing hammer mostly but also steadily upgrading the bow and duals. It isn't too bad keeping up multiple weapons in this.

I did him and Big Nerg solo this morning. Bazel is actually a really easy fight when he isn't sneaking up on you. Nerg on the other hand... those last 10% of hp was rough. Had already fainted twice and was just trying to run in circles and do enough damage, while avoiding being one shot. Way more challenging than the beta.

My past few days: Nigel was kicking my ass, time to farm some Legiana...got really into hammer. Hammered Nigel to death, got gud...

Farmed Legiana and Tobi with hammer, grabbed full legiana set and maxed out thunder bow, that extra charge level is a beast. Six or so arrow burst all hitting for 30+ every 10 seconds is a game changer.

Those sticking with bows will not be disappointed.

@Chrysamere and a few others have to add you. I believe

Hatorade can too. Once that happens go tot he quest board and Join Online Session -> Join Squad Session -> Then you're in the same, "instance" with everyone else.

3) I've read SnS is top tier and then some people say its newb only? Is it viable to do the majority of the content?

4) SnS versus Dual Blades - Do dual blades do more damage? I liked them but didn't like constantly having to go into demon mode or it wearing off nonstop before attacking. Bow "felt" like it was way more damage but I swapped to SnS from Bow because after playing Horizon Zero Dawn it felt like I was just continuing that game play.

3.) All weapons are viable for everything. It's just your preference.

4.) Dual Blades probably do more damage faster but you get the shield for defense with SNS obviously. It's more to fit your playstyle. Hide behind a shield when in danger or just git gud and don't get hit at all? Your choice son.
