that post is filled with retorts shitting on the concept that dacians had those, reminds me of indian talwar, the way romans fought I don't think it would be that effective you need room and leverage they would pushed up on you in formation and stabbed you with their short swords on your exposed sides.

pretty cool fight:

He was doing really well until his infantry bugged out and stopped responding to his commands in the river.

I want to create some Bannerlord vids but it's kind of a lame presentation when you roll in with 100 elite troops and smash a few hundred peasants. My battle strategy is also fairly simple compared to his which is less fun to watch.

very first game I started in this I got that 2h axe he's using in my first tournament, used it the entire game. Just one shots everybody when combined with speed

Pretty sure the most OP weapon in the game is my 200 range custom glaive. 200 is just about a perfect balance of cavalry op and siege maneuverability.

I installed Xorberax's Cut Through Everyone today. Even after nerfing it so it does 50% damage to each person it cuts through it's still OP, I'll turn it off but it's pretty fun and only really works on trash tier units.

yeah, cleaving is not really that realistic. its going to make any weapon you give it, op. bodies have weight, and are tough to cut. especially armored ones. it would require a TON of heft to swing through a 200lb body. you wouldn't be able to pick up a polearm, that had enough weight in its blade to do that.
only Axes do it in game. and even then its not super realistic..

What are you guys finding to be optimal for the number of fiefs you can manage? I just got my 3rd city in the little region I'm protecting, plus I have a castle. Thinking about reverting to after I captured it and letting someone else have it. The problem is these assholes keep losing them. But I'm wondering if that many fiefs is going to be unmanageable.

This goddamn game...

Two days off from work, playing 8 hours a day (haven't done that since 2010)..no idea if I am "winning"

None of the girls will marry me
Looters never go away
I swing the sword like an idiot

So, basically real life in game form.

10/10 will keep playing

Any pro tips appreciated

well then, just going to have to start executing the opposition.

Southern empire has been a real Pita for me like that. They declare war, or I do... And I take a castle, they take 2, I take one back, they take the first one I took back.. I've got quite a few vassals, but they seem to be entirely useless while the A.I. does this shit.

Especially now atm, Vlandia keeps making me ping pong back and forth across the map. I'm trying real hard, to NOT just wipe them off the map. I wanted to just take the Empire, not kill off Sturgia, Aserai, Vlandia.. but Vlandia is making it real hard. They keep declaring war on me, when im on the other side of the map, dealing with Southern empire. I got to ride over their personally, and make peace, just to stop my vassals from ending them.. At which point Southern empire declares war, and hits my shit, while Im off dealing with vlandia..

Get a polearm you can swing and a horse to ride while you swing it.

I gotta imagine that trying to start at the center and work your way out is hard mode. Better to start on one corner and spread out. Like taking Australia in Risk.

So the Family Feud quest is bugged for me. I have so many companions it's impossibel to get some rando NPC in the village scene since it's bottom of the list. Even if I knock out my companions he won't show up. It'd probably work if I kicked my companions out of my party but that's a waste of time.

Anyway, it bugged out so hard I failed the quest but kept the NPC. So now I have some low level loser taking up a party slot that I can't upgrade or equip or remove from my party. It's a nuisance but kind of funny. I wish I knew how to kick him out of my party, but I also wish I could rename him Joxer.

Anyone tried MP? Hopped in a few games late night. In skirmish mode it doesnt seem like there is a point to do anything but lance + horse. Can one shot infantry and the horses knock people down for a decent bit of time.

I wanted to do Siege mode but it never pops.

Siege usually launches within 3-4 minutes for me.

Its usually a clusterfuck.

I did quite a bit of MP before Early Access. Captain mode was pretty fun (It's you and a handful of troops you command with a few other players on your team vs another team) but it'd be a lot more fun to team up with a regular group and coordinate with each other.

Played it one night and found that I had worse lag/framerate issues than in SP sieges. Performance seems to have gotten a little better in SP so I might have to check it out again.

prisoner system needs work. They do not get held nearly long enough.

my war on the Southern empire. 14 prisoners. By the time, Im done fighting the armies, the first ones are escaping and magically teleporting back home, and magically getting 100 man armies, and I'm fighting them again. they escape and build armies faster then I can recover from any losses from the initial battles.
14 prisoners, 3000+ dead, and I did not manage to take a single castle.

Does it weaken your enemy to execute all their nobles after battles? Seems like it gave some negative modifiers to my character for having killed prisoners.

The biggest impact is you lose reputation with "notables" who are the people you recruit soldiers from. So if you take over a territory by executing all of the lords in it, large chunks of existing notables won't give you soldiers. I dont' know how drastic it is, but I read a post on the official forums that someone basically trashed their entire reputation by going on a single campaign of execution and didn't realize it until it was too late.

Yeah the recovery mechanics are ridiculous. I'm betting they haven't tweaked it yet partially because if they did the snowball effect would be much worse where an army would get captured and then the attacking army would run wild all over the land.

There's a bunch of stuff that will be silly until they get a good handle on snowballing mechanics. The #1 thing the game doesn't have is a sensible strategy for the faction leaders to aggressively team up against any faction that's growing in power.

New patch. Brings the "beta" branch into the "main" branch.

I really hope my saves in the 1.1.0 beta branch carry over to the 1.1.0 main branch... don't have it in me to restart or re-import my party
