Only because the LeBron haters are as bad as Dallas fans anymore. Way more LeBron haters on these boards than people that give LeBron credit for playing the game he has. The division between appreciators and haters is almost as bad as this past year's Presidential election.
You can "hate" a guy and still think he's the best player in the world currently. I will always root against him just because of how much of a dick move "The Decision" was to his home team, but it doesn't change the fact that he is the best player in the world right now. That said, all this legacy talk is a little premature for a guy who is 2-2 in NBA Finals. He's over the hump, and credit to the Spurs for giving everyone a great Finals (coming oh so close in Game 6). I thought the rest of the playoffs would be a walkover once Westbrook went down and Rose is still suffering from PTSD.

Most people fall into the Hate Lebron but still think he's an amazing player category. Lebron fans are just so insecure that they lose their shit anytime someone suggests Lebron isn't godlike or the greatest of all time.

Plus there's always the whole he couldn't win it on his own so he had to form a super team criticism he'll never be able to shake.

I don't think it's completely out of touch with reality to say LeBron could end up being looked at as top 3 all time. I mean no one would argue that he's already top 10 even if his career ended today, right? And bumping him into the top 5 is certainly a discussion worth having. Like right now I'm not going to call him better than Magic, because obviously success plays a huge role in a player's legacy, but it would be hard for someone to argue that Magic, statistically, put up better production than LeBron is right now.

The only thing is he's going to need more than 2 rings to get there and while I think this Heat team has another year in them, I'm not sure after that.

He's nudging the top 10. I still put

Jordan
Magic
Bird
Kareem
Wilt
Oscar Robertson
Shaq
Kobe
Duncan
Hakeem
Malone (both of em probably)

above him. LeBron hasn't played long enough to be considered a top 10 of all time in my book. This isn't my hating on him or whatever I just don't think he's been around long enough and been doing what he's doing long enough to be considered on the top ten list.

I fully expect him to be there some day if he keeps this up though, I just don't put him there yet.

I'd put him at 10 right now. A ring or two more and he'll be above Duncan/Shaq/Kobe I think. Hes just too dominant. I'm not sure he'll ever be #1 but that 3 point shooting display he buried the Spurs with last night was impressive.

Can you name the players that did it on their own please?

Also Kobe is garbage. All he really is, imo, is a great scorer. A la Carmelo Anthony. The difference is Kobe has always had tons of quality help. Shaq carried him to 3 titles (Lakers better via free agency) then Gasol carried him to 2 more (Lakers better via trade). Everyone talks about LeBron not being able to do it on his own but Kobe couldn't even make the Finals on his own. Shaq left and the Lakers were horrible fucking scrubs up until the Gasol trade. I mean Kobe was demanding a trade because he didn't have any help lol. Not to mention when Kobe/Gasol couldn't get it done they got him Howard/Nash.

Sure LeBron left Cleveland but at least he did it the right way. He played out his contract and then found the best fit for him. Kobe ran Shaq out of town and then cried to the point of a trade demand (and almost getting traded to the Pistons) before finally calming down and getting Gasol.

It will be interesting to see what happens going forward. Wade looks like he's on his last leg, Bosh was fucking awful last night. Ray Allen is ancient.

Going to the Finals 3 years in a row takes it toll on teams.

Dirk did it with Jason Terry as his 2nd best player, and zero All-Star team mates.

Hakeem.

Rick Barry.

While none of those were "alone", they were definitely 1 Star constructions who put a bunch of roleplayers on their back and dominated. Dirk/The Mavs Championship is starting to look better and better in hindsight.

I think it comes down to people arguing different things. I saw a friend's post on FB saying something about congratulating the Ohio boy and some dumbass posts this all caps tirade about how Jordan is the greatest player ever. How did Jordan even enter the conversation? Can people just accept the fact that he's a badass player? Who could honestly (Gaige notwithstanding) compare James to Jordan? That's idiocy. There is no comparison. It's like hardcore Jordan GOAT people are quick to shove it down the throats of anyone who doesn't immediately say the same thing. Complimenting one player is the same as condemning another.

Most people are just retarded.

Dirk had Chandler. Without Chandler the next year they got swept in the first round by the team the Heat destroyed in the Finals. So wipe Dirk off that list. Akeem had Drexler and Kenny Smith. Rick Barry is 100 years old so whatever, I'll give you that one.

The Mavs have said themselves, including Dirk, that they just got lucky by facing the Heat before they knew how to play together. Also that first year Heat team wasn't constructed very well outside the Big 3. Also the Mavs had an embarrassing title defense unlike the Heat who successfully defended their title against a championship organization.

It will be interesting to see what happens going forward. Wade looks like he's on his last leg, Bosh was fucking awful last night. Ray Allen is ancient.
Wade will go to Germany and get the Kobe treatment. He is only 31. Bosh wasn't terrible last night unless all you care about is scoring. Ray Allen is ancient but he is in amazing shape and can play two more years, at least. Not to mention that LeBron will be even better next year. Dude still hasn't hit his peak.

Gaige, the Finals are over bro, you can change your avatar now. Let's get on to more interesting topics like, what are you going to do with your life now that basketball is over until the end of October?
