When did Durant or CP3 average 35.6ppg? Exactly. The fact that they averaged less points on less shots so they're better is retarded. And really you're comparing people like Smush Parker and Kwame Brown to Westbrook and Harden? Kobe's team was far worse than any of their teams and he single handedly carried them to the playoffs and a 3-1 lead over the much better Suns.
Your a "small sample size of outlier games" is Gaige level stupid.
No. It's the fact that Durant averaged slightly less points on
significantlyless shots. That point isn't retarded at all. I don't know what world you live in where taking 10 shots and netting 5 points is a
goodthing, but I'll stick to real life where efficient players do more to help teams win.
Kobe hovers around 45% shooting for his career and got away with it during his best years by getting to the line a ton. But "one of the greatest offensive players of all time"? Give me a break. Wade, LeBron and Durant have all had league leading (or close) scoring seasons shooting
muchbetter from the field
andgetting to the line just as often. But yeah, you're right. Kobe took 10 more shots and scored 5 more points so he's better than all of these guys.
His stat line doesn't live up. And you won't find a single advanced metric that says it does. Maybe that's something you don't give a fuck about, but when
allof them (PER, WS, WP, RAPM) say the same thing, that he is good but not great, at some point you have to give up leaning on PPG. There is a lot of involved with winning basketball games and you'll find that there aren't many championship teams out there with their best player shooting 25+ times a game at a low 40s clip. Kobe isn't the exception to the rule here. He played on really good teams.
