No one cares about DUI's, not a single thing in the media that is negative is DUI or DUI related. Sorry you can't beat you wife and kids. No one gives a shit about driving fucked up....driving while intoxicated and driving under the influence are supposed to be crimes yet every bar in America has a parking lot full of cars even the ones at the sports stadiums.
I understand the "league" has to "act" like they give a shit about these matters but society as a whole gives not a single fuck. Not 1 sponsor will pull their $ over shit like that. Jim Irsay was arrested driving while fucked up on alcohol, oxycodone, and hydrocodone....lets see how high the NFL's morale highground is!
They fined him half a million bucks and suspended him somehow, didn't they? I don't remember the specifics off the top of my head but it was the most severe penalty the league ever handed out.
Half a million bucks to a billionare, I'm not sure how he can keep on living under those circumstances, he might as well commit suicide, life as he knows it is over.
Courts don't handle it though. They are celebrities and get coddled as evidenced by what happened with Rice.
Its really not that uncommon, he had no prior record. New Jersey uses that pre-trial intervention stuff all the time. If he had done it in Maryland all that they would have had to do is show up to court and have Janay refuse to testify against him and he'd be off the hook. Happens all the time here no matter how poor you are, its referred to as spousal immunity or spousal privilege. But if you get charged with domestic assault against her again the State can go after you and the spouse can't get you off the hook. Tons of people get away with a slap on the wrist for hitting their wives across the country every day. If being an athlete was such a get out of jail free card he'd have never been charged in the first place.
Yea, pretty sure AZ where I live is this way, the state can pick up the charges when a reluctant spouse flakes out.

You are right, but still, they at least tried to penalize him in some way. What do you think the appropriate penalty would have been? This is something that the court will give you a $300 fine for in my state at least for a first time offense.
Umm how about losing draft picks or loss of cap room, you know things that would have really mattered a billionare owner, things that affected the bottom line of a franchise. Trickle down effect....

I suppose but I still don't agree. I feel the players are more of the franchise than he is but I suppose to each his own.
