looks like 75/25 hawks are #5 if they both win out according tothis. what decides it in that case? also, sucks about losing rawls. hopefully lynch can go from zero to beastmode.
Seattle lost to Green Bay, but beat the Vikings, if the Vikings win the NFC North, and the Packers finish with the same record as Seattle then the Packers are the 5th seed and Seattle is the 6th seed. If the packers win the NFC North, and Seattle finishes with the same record as the Vikings then Seattle is the 5th seed.

For the NFC North, if the Vikings beat Chicago, and are within 1 game of Green Bay, and then beat Green Bay in the final week they own the tie breaker based on best divisional record. So it doesn't really matter if the Vikings gain a game on Green Bay or not before the week 17 match up, as long as they don't lose ground the final game will decide the NFC North winner.

i was on the ledge last week due to the horrific play of the pats special teams...

ST, still sucked today for 1 play- but no costly mistakes- plus Gronk LOOKS healthy (please please please stay that way) plus edelman is practicing again - so figure - barring setbacks- him playing week 16 or playoff, plus denver losing plus cinci losing = all is happy in my mind atm.

now if pittsburgh can lose a game or two.....

in the AFC, the steelers are probably the #1 team i wouldn't want to face in the playoffs currently- and based on how other teams are playing, the patriots imo - barring horrific plays/mistakes- can/should beat all the other teams in the AFC- Steelers as they are playing right now, however, worry me greatly.

steelers have games vs broncos ravens and browns... so barring massive upsets, they should win 2 of those 3 games...
jets have cowboys pats and bills- should beat cowboys, lose to pats then most likely beat bills- again win 2 of 3.
chiefs- ravens browns raiders....like the steelers should win at least 2 of the 3.....

now the issue is... i dislike denver,,,and dislike pitt...which team do i want to win sunday? they are playing each other.. but pitt losing = hard time getting into the playoffs=

Go Broncos!!!!

Jets have the Pats, Dallas and Buffalo. Chiefs have Baltimore, Cleveland and Oakland. The Pats need to lose to the Jets to help themselves out! The Steelers need to win out and have one of those teams lose. Jets look like they will lose to the Pats and Buffalo is always a toss up for them. If the Steelers lose to Denver but beat the other two teams and the Jets lose to either New England or Buffalo then the Steelers would be in because of division record.

As a life long Steeler fan I don't think we have what it takes to keep up with the Carolina Offense so I am not sure we could win the Superbowl. The Pats game in New England in the play offs would also be a miracle for the Steelers to win.

We are going to lose out and draft a QB?
That's no consolation. I went over this already. The only win Jones has in drafting a QB is Aikman, and I doubt that was his pick. He bought the team in Feb '89 and Aikman was drafted in April '89. Two months in, it's likely JJ wasn't heavily involved in that first draft

JJ was... just not the owner JJ. And really who knows how Aikman turns out if the Cowboys don't pull off 'The Trade' to get all that talent they had on those super bowl teams.

You know, when Linehan came in to call plays, the knock on him was that he was going to be too pass heavy. You know, based upon his time in Detroit.

Now I'm just convinced he's a shitty playcaller. Dude can't adjust for shit and telegraphs everything. Need a yard? JUMBO SET RUN UP THE GUT! First down run? It's more likely than you think. Blowing guys off the line and getting 10 yard runs in a single back set? Hur dur let's change it up and telegraph a screen. I understand Cassell isn't exactly going to light things up, but at least try to not be so damned predictable.

But you watch. They'll win the next three games, finish at 7-9 and they'll go into the offseason feeling good about how things ended, despite everything that happened. And the wheel will turn for another lost year.
This is why Bill Lazer got fired in Miami. This is why Atlanta is struggling. Teams have figured out their simple schemes that they refuse to adapt. It's ego and rigidity, refusing to change the system even if it no longer works. Same coaches with the same mediocre philosophy, that will shave the corners off square peg players to try and fit them in a round hole.

despite being a Dolphins fan, i am also an Eagles hater, so i fear i must root for the Giants tonight. the Dolphins really don't have a prayer at the playoffs at this point, whereas a Giants win could have some value in keeping the Eagles out of the playoffs.

I just need a solid game from Beckham and the Giants' D.

This is what the season has reduced me to. Rooting for players I should hate because of Jock D&D.

Tannehill going to throw for 4 TDs and 400 yards. Jarvis Landry will have at least 2 TD catches and 100+ yards.

I've brought this up elsewhere in regards to trainers (like strength and conditioning coaches) in the NFL. I feel like probably 80%+ of these guys are getting in just due to reputation, nepotism, or something else that doesn't actually qualify them for the position.

I say that because it seems certain teams are just prone to injuries and I put a lot of the blame on the coaches (there was a period of like 5 years where I know Redskins players were just destroying their hamstrings weekly).

I think play callers definitely fall into this. "Oh, he's in the 'coach who actually won shit' coaching tree! He must be good." "Yeah, he was terrible on his last team, but they were just a bad team so we'll hire him anyway!" Meanwhile the fans are all screaming "Why the fuck do people keep hiring this guy!?!" It's bad when people who barely pay attention can watch a handful of games casually and literallystart calling the plays before they're run. If a casual fan can do that, it should be incredibly easy for a player who is watching game film every week. And yet, here we are, with shitty coaches just bouncing around the league.

I've got to imagine it's just an issue of lack of talent, similar to the NFL's QB situation.

Re: Bad coaches

Sounds like the years Lovie Smith was here and rigidly stuck to his Tampa-2 defense. As teams were exploiting the gaps in coverage, like Pey-Pey did during their Super Bowl win, Lovie stayed tried and true and went down with that ship.
