It?s the nightmare for any hockey player, fan or league: That this inherently dangerous game will lead to a catastrophic injury through a vicious play.
It happened in a Nationalliga B playoff game this week. It happened to a player named Ronny Keller, a 33-year-old defenseman for Olten, who doctors confirmed is a paraplegic due to this hit from Langenthal player Stefan Schnyder:
ugh, that's awful what happened, but I don't agree that it was a "vicious" play. The poor guy who broke his neck turned in to the guy beside him, who I don't think intended to send him flying like he did. It's not like he was run directly from behind. Shitty circumstances all around.Yeah that was horrible to watch, especially knowing the outcome.
Even though it will be much tougher for us to get to the playoffs every year, glad to have a lot of our old rivalries back again.Nhlpa agrees to realignment. Clearly, next year the east is best and the west is a bunch of fags
Kansas City and Seattle go in the west. Quebec and Toronto don't get a a team.I just wonder how that all plays out if/when Quebec gets a team, to say nothing of a second Toronto area team, or Kansas City if that ever happens. There's really only one potential target for expansion in the West in Seattle. So will Columbus or Detroit be booted back West again at some point? If the league ends up at 32 teams, even with Seattle I would think that one of them would have to end up in the Western 16.
Quebec is getting a team, without question. They'll have the arena in 2 years. They're the most attractive market without a hockey team currently, outside of the Toronto area. Far more attractive than Seattle or KC, by a mile. Whether they get an expansion team or a relocated one is really the only question.Kansas City and Seattle go in the west. Yeah, but fuck Canada.Quebec is getting a team, without question. They'll have the arena in 2 years. They're the most attractive market without a hockey team currently, outside of the Toronto area. I know this board is full of West coast bitches, but I hope you guys are making time to watch Pens games lately. Because win or lose they are crazy entertaining. I wish they were less so, but man fun is fun.Nice to see Pitt/Philly pick up where they always leave off of late. Crazy comeback.
Welcome to my life, '09-10 style. Fortunately Halak can do his early round playoff heriocs against Chicago this year so you should be fine.I know this board is full of West coast bitches, but I hope you guys are making time to watch Pens games lately. It's up for reevaluation in the 14/15 season I think. That happens to be when the Quebec, Toronto and Seattle arenas will be ready. I see them expanding by 2 teams then. Quebec will definitely get a team, I doubt we will see a second team in Toronto.I just wonder how that all plays out if/when Quebec gets a team, to say nothing of a second Toronto area team, or Kansas City if that ever happens.
