It was kinda scary because we "lost" against the Wild in shootout this year, one of only 3 "losses", which as you know are not real losses. My day isn't complete without an Araysar Hawks update. What's their record now, bro? How'd it feel to be down against the Wild for 5 minutes?
http://www.chicagobusiness.com/artic...recoup-revenueThe Chicago Blackhawks have officially crossed over from regional fad to a national, general sports curiosity.
Their dramatic, shootout victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday afternoon drew a 1.6 overnight on NBC, according to NBC Sports. The game, excluding Winter Classics, is the best rating ever for a single-game (i.e. non-regional, a la opening day) broadcast on the network. It's the highest-rated game ever in the Game of the Week era.
The game drew a 9.7 rating in Chicago, the best rating for a Blackhawks game all season on any network. Other than the Wrigley Field-hosted Winter Classic (11.8) it was the best rating ever for a Hawks regular season game on NBC. Given that Chicago is the third-largest television market in the country, Blackhawks ratings are now approaching a Pittsburgh/Buffalo-type mania. The rivalry also pumped up the Detroit market to an 8.9 rating. For comparison, Feb. 10's Kings-Red Wings game on NBC drew a 7.4 in Detroit, which had been the highest-rated Red Wings game in Detroit on NBC since early 2011.
Returning to NBC nationally, the game was up 60 percent from last year's comparable matchup, Boston vs. NY Rangers on Mar. 4, 2012, which scored a 1.0 overnight. NBC follows up this exciting, dramatic, highly-rated game with... Rangers and Capitals next Sunday. Well, we will always have this Sunday.
The top 13 highest-rated Blackhawks games in Chicago regional sports television history have all occurred this season, and only 16 games total have aired on CSN.
Four of the top five, in fact, have all aired since last Tuesday.
The average local television rating for all games on CSN this season is now 5.41 (about 190,000 Chicago TV households), an 87 percent jump from 16 telecasts last season.
Says the Pittsburgh fan.I think those Blackhawks ratings numbers mostly prove that their fans are a bunch of bandwagon bitches.
I've only heard them talking about how they haven't lost in regulation, not that they've won every game.ya Steven A consistently an idiot - albeit he is correct that Ties break "streaks"
It's not a WINNING streak they're on.. I don't know how you argue that.
mm im not so sure that's not the spin being put on it - considering that's why it even surfaced on ESPN.I've only heard them talking about how they haven't lost in regulation, not that they've won every game.
Hockey coverage. ESPN. Tells you all you need to know.mm im not so sure that's not the spin being put on it - considering that's why it even surfaced on ESPN.
regardless, best team in hockey I've seen since the 2011 Bruins
No, I mean they literally won 10 straight games since the last shootout "loss".If you don't want to count anything but wins, the Hawks have 20 straight wins!
Whatever makes the fake record seem more impressive!
Just scored the game winning goal against the Avs, so...... pretty good?ok how bout that Carcillo.
