Man that Staal/Sutter trade is looking better and better.
For whatever reason a lot of Caps fans like to boo the bigger names that leave the team when they come back...unless you're Olie Kolzig, Peter Bondra, etc. Semin contributed quite a lot here in DC, but he was also a very polarizing figure. You have Good Sasha, and Bad Sasha. Good Sasha is a 35-40 goal a year guy who puts up a ton of points and makes your offense and PP a lot better. Bad Sasha shows up for periods when he doesn't feel like working hard, takes a lot of stick penalties and generally plays pretty soft. Far too often come playoff time it was Bad Sasha appearing for entire series at a time.
Hossa gets booed in Detroit and then listening to Chicago sports radio they were crying foul about it not knowing why... they went on to describe his career about how he started on Ottawa then Thrashers, then started chasing cup and money going to Pittsburgh who lost in Finals. Then he leaves for Detroit and Detroit loses in Finals to Pittsburgh, where he should have stayed (he also played pitifully for Detroit during those Finals where much of the resentment comes from), then goes to Chicago. So, they basically describe a mercenary just out chasing Fame and Money and wonder why he is a boo-able person. Idiots on the radio.
I don't really give a shit which team ends up where personally. However I think it's idiotic that 14 teams have a better chance of making the playoffs than the other 16. It's just flat out retarded that they didn't come up with a way to ameliorate that issue. And my team benefits from the arrangement.
