They remastering Thousand Year Door? Did they ever remaster the first Paper Mario? Maybe I can finally play those. Huge Mario RPG fan but didn't play the "sequels" because they looked so different.

Only the first is even slightly rpg - after they are just another odd variation of a Mario game- people love em or hate em but they are not what most consider rpgs

Meh, wasn't missing anything then. The Mario + Luigi spinoff on portables is probably where all the RPG went. Never bothered with those though. Too bad we never just got a straight Mario RPG 2.

leaks from reddit from someone who apparently was reliable with previous nintendo info

  • Switch 2 is slated for March 2025 still - nothing has changed since his original report
  • expect announcement to pan out similar to Switch 1 (Sept-Nov for full reveal etc)
  • third party should be allowed to mention Switch 2 mulitplatform releases from June on even without showing it, since Nintendo is now openly talking about it (e.g. for games announced for 2025 they can confirm "PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch Successor)
  • He knows about a couple of multiplatform games that'll be announced for Switch 2 early on in the next semester
  • Direct in June is the last proper Switch 1 Direct but there's rumors about a Partner Direct late rin the year
  • Nintendo will announce more remasters in the Direct, he expect Metroid Prime 4 to be the last big reveal for Switch 1 and released this year but he doesn't know and it's just speculation on his part
  • he expects more leaks to come out now that the successor has been mentioned
  • Indie World in August

there is a Switch 1 direct in June around E3 times to talk about the rest of the games coming out for switch 1.

At this point I'd hold over Metroid Prime 4 and make it a Switch 2 launch game. This would also give it around 4 more months of development time for them to try and up the resolution or whatever improvements Switch 2 allows. Think it'd be way more beneficial to them as a launch game than as a late-era Switch game. Then again, Switch 2 will sell out even if the launch lineup is anemic.

A direct is tomorrow morning. Sounds like it is just games and no switch 2 announcements. Figure we will see end of life software for the system.

The reality is most of these Switch 1 EOL releases are absolutely being prepped for Switch 2 already. Nintendo exclusive or not they will have better hardware requirements to work with and Steam or PS4/5 versions may have access to better graphics or get patched with them when Switch 2 happens.

Yeah Metroid 4 being 2025 likely means it'll be cross gen. Also likely means it'll look like shit in Switch 1 in comparison since I assume they're gonna push it to be a Switch 2 selling title and make it look much better there as an incentive.

The other games looked neat, the Zelda game especially looked interesting, although at this point I'm going to hold until the Switch 2 at least since I haven't bought the first one yet and it seems like a waste now. Don't even know if I'll buy the 2nd either, while a lot of games look ok nothing is really getting me to consider buying one. An exclusive Etrian Odyssey probably would, but considering the genre it'll either be announced for Steam or be on Switch1 and easily emulated so still unlikely.

Now when someone says “the Zelda game” it actually means this new one- all others are now “Link” games hehe

Looks like the game boy remake engine but hopefully without the stupid blur edge it had. It’s a puzzle leaning Zelda so that’s fine, those are it my favorite but oh well looks fun none the less

Prime 4 sign me up

Truth. I'd be more stoked for it if it were a Switch 2 launch game. The visuals look...underwhelming, like an HD version of a Gamecube game. Probably because they did indeed reuse things from Prime 1 Remastered.

As a huge Metroid fan, I'm not sure why the Prime series is even still going on. It was supposed to be a couple of gaiden games between Metroid 1 and 2 so they could use Metroids again. But now they've continued the main series and I'd like to see more of that instead, plus Metroids themselves haven't even been in the Prime games since MP1. They're like the only reason for the Prime series to still be a thing and they never get used. Pretty sure the ones in the MP4 trailer are pirate-engineered Mochtroids. No idea why the game couldn't just be Metroid 6 and kinda combine the Prime and main series' by bringing in the loose end bad guy from one of the Primes.

That's another thing, the bad guy is the villain from MP Hunters, the DS spinoff not many people actually played as I understand it. What an odd choice.

As the resident Metroid superfan, I'm more puzzled than anything else by the whole thing. But hey, more Prime to play isn't something I'll say no to. Wish we could have gotten MP2 and 3 HD in the interim though. What I really would like to play again is MP2.

Sylus has been hinted at even in Federation Force, and at the end of Prime 3 Corruption 17 years later..

I'll just wait for the emulator version cause Fuck Nintendo.
