CV is Konami and they are… doing… the tings with it…
I feel like I’m missing a meme reference.
I meant it as Castlevania would be the only non-nintendo first party I’d go out and buy a Switch 2 for assuming it’s in Metroidvania 2d format. For first party a traditional Zelda and another Xenoblade would sell me. Early rumors sounds like the big reveal is Metroid though but I’ve never really been a big Metroid fan.
My googlefu might be a little off but it looks like the last Castlevania game was Lords of Shadow 2 in 2014 and the last non-remake/remaster to hit Nintendo was Order of Ecclesia for the 3ds in 2008. It’s a shame it’s a dead IP right now.
It’s become the opposite for us. Even my wife plays the Xbox more than the switch now. I will buy it but I’ll wait for some Switch exclusives.
This has me thinking about the gaming dynamics and how they’ve evolved. My wife went from video games are stupid, to animal crossing and other Switch games, to Xbox. My son went from Switch to PS5. I went from PS5 to PC almost exclusively the past two years except for like two games.

Well the new one might fix your first complaint. I have the PC for everything besides Nintendo/party games, so Switch is fine for that. The Switch era firmly cemented I'm out of their market segment as I don't want to play docked games at 1080p or worse at 30 fps. For handheld purposes Steam Deck is superior in every single meaningful way for me so I'll just emulate the handful of games I'd want to play that are Nintendo exclusive for a better experience overall (4k/60+FPS BAAABY).
I just wish they'd stop extorting people for older titles, or indie games, compared to steam.

Is there any info on MK yet? The last one felt exactly like they all do. I don't see a reason to bother if there's nothing at all new there. It's starting to feel like the Pokemon games where it's a shit dev studio phoning it in now and just a rehash of their core titles.Well atleast this time Switch games will work on Switch 2 including physical carts.
New Mario Kart is going to be a release title on this apparently, if its not too stupidly priced its probably day 1.

At least with Zelda you could say there's story/world or whatever even if it's fundamentally the same. SSB is starting to get stale too.
For us, yes, but we are a minority. Only about a third of console owners have more than one platform. I can't find good data on the exact distribution and overlap of console ownership, but there are a lot of people out there who didn't play these games anywhere else.
I didn't even realize that MK8 was 11 years old, I think they most have added some content for switch release right? Never had a wii u so it was still new for me.Not yet, expect that info to release with the Switch 2 announcement in April. I think the problem is Mario Kart 8 was a WII U release in 2014 lol, so yea the game feels stale as it really hasnt had anything added to it since 2017 with it came to Switch. Anything new at this point would be welcome, but that's a long time to not add anything new other then new tracks etc.
