Well shit, a 70% increase... I wonder if my GTX 970 will last until this card is lower than $500!

70% faster than the 4090!* ** *** ****

* With DLSS on at 8k resolution
** With raytracing, not with raster
*** For 85% higher MSRP
**** At tasks specifically devoted to rendering expensive leather jackets only
No doubt it's some bullshit like this.

Buy your 2k watt power supply now to get ahead of the price bump on them. And an extra cooler for that rooom.

The 4080 drew 20-40w less power than the 3080 at the same usage profile for almost 80% more performance.

(But a shitload more money, 700 vs 1200 MSRP.)

My 1080 ti everytime I install a modern game

Maybe it's time to upgrade and then play EverQuest, WoW and Factorio for another few months.

Just upgraded to a 4070 super ti turboretard arcade edition.

I'll mainly be playing 10-20 year old games on it.

Why am I like this?

I'm pretty sure going from a 970 or a 1080 to a 4070 would make Diablo 4 at least 70% better!

My 1070 8gb is wheezing like a copd patient. Should probably get at least a 5070 when they're released.

Good news for me is that my eyes are getting progressively worse as I age, so my 1080 is doing juuuuuuuuust fine.

For what it's worth, the 4070 Super is one of the best performance per dollar cards at a high end level, ever. It's $589.99 right now, performing above the 3090 Ti in some benchmarks at 1/3 the price. If you're on a 2 series, or especially a 1 series, I'd look to get one especially if it's bundle with a game you're interested in playing.

My problem is I have a good 4K 120hz gaming PC and once you turn on 4K with HDR and VRR it’s really hard to go back down in resolution and frame rate. Wow SoD on my TV looks so much better than I remember wow looking like. Elden ring has a completely different look at 4K too. The 4070 super just barely plays modern games at 4K.

I might just say fuck it and buy one. It might seem out of place with the rest of my 2019 era PC though...

If I actually had decent time to game I'd just build a whole new desktop :/

I skipped the 4xxx series this go around. As long as this isn't priced 75% higher too I might finally upgrade.

If they end up dropping the 40xx series prices it might actually be better value to just grab a 4070 super or something than most of the 50xx stuff other than the 5090 if you want the super top end card, I wanted to upgrade last year but in the end I didn't cause I spent most of the year playing old ass mmos that wouldn't benefit at all, but I think I'll upgrade this year. Might look into getting a 4k 120hz monitor too so I can play at higher FPS, but I feel without DLSS3 some games just won't run that well at 4k and if I end up capping at 60 there's no point. Maybe they could figure out how to use their super AI bullshit to apply DLSS to every game instead of just a handful of games a year.

i got a 3090 3+ years ago at retail price (Feb 2021, thanks Best Buy!) and have no desire to upgrade for a while. at the time i only had an i7-8700K and didn't realize how badly it was holding back the 3090, finally upgraded rest of the internals last year with a 13700K, 64 GB DDR5 ram, and a new power supply because i was having suspicions on the old one. PC screams now.
