NVidia GeForce RTX 50x0 cards - 70% performance increase, but AI > you

Man that video was great. The straight gibberish these billion dollar companies are putting for their card advertisements pages just makes you question if they are using AI to do it or some intern who happens to be high on some weed.

You know there is a portion of buyers who eat that shit up, that's the scary part.

... a gpu that plays heavy metal music?

Money well spent.

Here's a novel concept: maximize gpu power while minimizing cost.

I think the only brand taking themselves a little too seriously is the tacticool milspec TUF series. The rest are just silly. I for one can’t wait for the Hellstone to guide me to ultimate victory.

Powercolor better watch out. Activision going send a C&D for all the diablo IP stealing.

Looks like best bet for getting a decent price on the AMD cards was microcenter, assuming you lived "hear" one.

They really shit the bed with the 50 series.

Problem is it doesn’t really matter to them. They’ve got a functionally unlimited R&D budget due to enterprise revenue. They’re still the dominant performance crown holder in the sector despite refusing to prioritize gamers. They can come back next generation or even the one after and immediately take back the sales crown if they cared due to their expertise lead over AMD and Intel.

Most of the 5000 series cards seem somewhat available in Europe now and although prices have dropped some, still nothing I'd consider not a ripoff. At least 5090 prices now start with a 3 and not a 4.

It's really hard to believe there is this much demand for consumer video cards.
Gaming went from kinda a nerd or kid thing. Eons of even frat bro's just playing consoles. Now every high as a kite wigger is mindlessly streaming to 2 viewers on twitch trying to make it big.

That and they dont produce as many cards as they should beyond the market just growing.

Yeah, the question is if demand is that high, or if supply is just that low.

The second half wasn't helped by the delayed launch after they axed the previous gen early, partly because (Nvidia, at least) was using the same lines for the current gen.

That said, there is clearly demand out there, especially when the CPU market is set - a 9800X3D for gaming, a 9950X3D if you need dual purpose, and Intel dead, means effectively everything else other than the GPU is locked for the next ~two+ years - if you had any need / desire to upgrade, you may as well do it now.

The market has definitely grown in the last decade, especially the console bros.

But a lot of it is just down to them capitalizing on the supply chain issues of China Virus. Utilizing that as a tool to artificially constrict supply, keeping prices high.

For what it’s worth, Nvidia said they shipped more 50 series cards at launch, than they had for any of their initial launches.

I’ve given up looking online for the time being. I’ll be driving through Kansas City in a few weeks, and I’ll try to pick something up a 9070 xt, or Nvidia something if anything is in stock.

Someone said that was the usual spin doctor horseshit. They were claiming the 50 series launch was bigger than the 40 series launch, but they leave out that the initial 40 series launch was just the 4090's, whereas the 50 series launch was multiple different models.

It's the usual climate change/"man-made" climate change, dying "with covid"/dying FROM covid, crime totals/crime per capita word salad they always try to confuse people with.

Nice! I'm jealous - I'm ready to pull the trigger on a new build (my last one is from 2011) but there are no graphics cards to buy anywhere near MSRP and I'm not paying what they are asking for them.

Kind of surprised they haven't gone to a metal bus bar now for power instead of a wire. Maybe they will when they push it, more power.
