From the company that was “reselling” its own 30 series inventory without ever putting it into inventory or shipping it to resellers first. This isn’t new at all.Don't blame them, gamers will pay it, so why leave money on the table. And its easy enough to just lower the price again if for some miracle they dont sell.
wait for the 60 series or amd's gpus later in the yearI have a 3080 TI and I do want to upgrade. Should I just get a 4090 then or what?
Well I want to upgrade this year when are we looking at AMD releasing? Money isn't really the issue here. I ain't paying $4k for one though.wait for the 60 series or amd's gpus later in the year

technically, dollar for dollar, the 5090 is better than a 4090. With that said, they stopped making the 4090s awhile ago, you're only going to be able to get a used 4090 and they're also still in high demand. So if you want a new 90 series card, you're going to have to wait for the market for the 5090s to cool down, and who knows how long that'll take. The market for the 80s is probably experiencing the same.Well I want to upgrade this year when are we looking at AMD releasing? Money isn't really the issue here. I ain't paying $4k for one though.
You’re going to get a lot of mixed recommendations from people who are stuck on the 50 series on not being as big of a jump as previous generations and hence being “bad”. I would suggest listening to the beginning of this video, and then skimming through the test results and deciding if the cost of the cards is worth it at the current prices. The cards are objectively better than the previous generation, but at a high cost. Part of it is due to inflation, but not all.Well I want to upgrade this year when are we looking at AMD releasing? If AMD can come out with something comparable at a much better price, I’m might give them a try. Tariffs are going to complicate things because MSI and ASUS have just added 200-400 dollars to already expensive cards. I’m going to wait and see.Yeah I'm in the same boat. I'll be interested to see what AMD does in March. We really need , well, ANY competition at this point.
So
They stopped making 4090s before they had enough 5000s available to meet demand? And now there are basically no new video cards anywhere available to be purchased unless you want to buy from scalpers? Is that the gist of it?
Has happened every generation at least since the 30 series, and yet people still buy their productsSo

Hah actually yes. Watched from the sidelines with my Series X when all the 3000's drama happened. But now I'd like to upgrade my pre-built's video card and it seems like that's probably a no go for now. Not too worried though, Cyberpunk looks and plays amazing with my 7600 as long as i don't try the ray tracing shit. Should be able to play Pantheon at MAX settings no problem!
Theres been a google trend surge in 7900 xt/xtx searches since the 5x launch; even tempted myself atm. The availability for the next AMD cards will be shit also.
Old chart but still; shows that even the 7900xt has 4k longevity.
