I meant nothing has been written about him in current cannon at the point the Kenobi series takes place. Of course he is cannon, there's just no history between him ditching out in Bad Batch and reappearing in New Dawn/Rebels. Its implied in the novel that he laid super low the entire time mostly as a freighter pilot as I recall.

Yeah, I sure do hate female characters in Star Wars and any time they take center stage is awful. Remember all the outrage when Bo-Katan, Koska Reeves, Fennec Shand, and Cara Dune stormed the bridge of Moff Gideon's command cruiser without a man helping them? It was absolutely unwatchable garbage because it didn't include any of the male protagonists of the show and I was deeply offended.

Kennedy reveals that early scripts from original writer Hossein Amini were incredibly dark, and the entire show was put on hold to adjust the tone. Production was delayed from August 2020 to January 2021 to allow the show to bring in new writers and craft a sunnier story.
"We're looking, ultimately, to make a hopeful, uplifting story," Kennedy said. "It's tricky when you're starting with a character in the state that Obi-Wan would be in coming off of 'Revenge of the Sith.' That's a pretty bleak period of time. You can't just wave the magic wand with any writer and arrive at a story that necessarily reflects what you want to feel."
it was originally written as a movie and converted to a TV show (with the same story) but then rewritten again. Gonna be interesting to see, I reserve judgements but rarely does so much rewriting tend to work out.

Obi-wan is the story of someone who just saw his entire religious order destroyed by his best friend, which he then had to kill. He goes to live on a desert planet to watch and protect his best friend's kid. He eventually turns into an old hermit.
So yeah, this being kinda dark would made perfect sense. I hope it's good, the trailer looked promising...but it's obvious by now that KK simply doesn't get Star Wars.
