Yeah it's a great video. iirc he also talks about how Stanton was just gonna read lines with him because they hadn't settled on a voice actor yet but then he busted out that slightly younger sounding Guinness and they ended up just using that first reading for the scene.

Timeline wise I believe it's right around 6 years after Kenobi.

The action is so cringe in this show, by far the worst part. The obi wan/vader actions were just boring and dumb. The cadence of this vader impersonation just feels all off. It mostly sounds like vader, but it does not speak like vader at all.
I have to agree wholeheartedly. After seeing it the first time and getting over the nerd-gasm of seeing Vader finally on the screen; you realize the fight scene is nothing like what you were expecting. Where was the hate filled rage? I always feel like Star Wars cant ever agree on how powerful Vader is supposed to be. In the comics he wipes out an entire Rebel battalion along with tanks without breaking a sweat. Here he cant put out a fire, or walk fast? Its awesome to see the character on the screen, but they just never seem to know what to do with him.

This is the Vader I was expecting, he's literally on fire at one point but he's still going after Obi Wan. It's too bad Disney just couldnt hire these guys

yeah i love that video and it absolutely shows how much of a monster vader is, and should be. i could buy vader being a little more cautious in episode 3 because despite his anger and fury, this is the man who put him in that cage of a suit. but then as soon as the encounter starts, he figures out real quick that obi-wan is NOT the man he used to be. but that causes all kinds of problems because in ANH vader says "when last we met I was the learner, now i am the master" or however he phrased it... but that's clearly not the case. ultimately i think vader and obi-wan should NOT have come face to face in this show, or at the very least, not squared off against each other. it just messes up too much to have vader realize how broken obi-wan is right now.

as far as vader's voice... it's james earl jones and it SOUNDS better than rogue one... in rogue one you could hear james earl jones' age peaking through but in obi-wan it sounds a lot closer to ANH. in the credits they list the same voice modulation company that worked on luke in boba fett, so i think james earl jones read the lines, then they edited his voice to clean it up a bit, which i think was a good call. HOWEVER... james earl jones is like 91 years old... absolutely no disrespect to that man at all, he's a legend, but there's a fire in vader's original lines that is missing here that i think just comes down to age.

According to Nielsen Obi-Wan was streamed 1 billion minutes opening 3 days, while Stranger Things season 4 was streamed 5.1 billion minutes. Not really sure you can make a comparison since Obi-Wan was only 2 episodes (2 hours) while ST was 7 episodes (9.5 hours) but Obi-Wan was the biggest thing thats ever released on D+ so far so gives sorta relative power rankings of audience draw. I don't see anything beating Stranger Things for a while, definitely not Game of Thrones 2022 or Lord of the Kangz.

1) Vader was paid dog dollars. 2) He has dementia (per ep 3) and can't afford healthcare.

"Bring him to me" makes sense now. You got a 900 dollar Vader from Wish.com

Just watched Episode III, it just gets stupider and stupider.

So Vader can create a wall of fire and force pull Obi Wan into it, but when Ellaria Sand creates the same wall of fire, Vader just lets the slow ass loader robot just walk away with Obi Wan?

Dementia can be confusing and scary. On family and caretakers alike.

I dont think people reading it properly. He Knew Anakin was Darth Vader, but did not know he was Robot Darth Vader and survived. he assumed Vader died on Musty

it's... murky...

but i did like the shot where obi-wan imagines seeing anakin in the distance. logically, he shouldn't look like that, but obi-wan is envisioning darth vader as he knows him. it's an interesting shot
